The Banker's Hotrod Year: 1979 Make: Mercedes Model: 450 SEL 6.9 Sedan Vin: 11603612006877 Miles: 93875 In its day, the 6.9 was the absolute king of the hill of sedans - both from a performance and technological standpoint; you are riding on a silk-smooth yet taut hydro-pneumatic suspension. Only 1816 of these special cars were sold as US-models, and they retailed for over $40,000 in 1979 dollars I Purchased this car in 2003 and this car has never had any “body rot” the jacking points and floor are solid and original. This car is a “survivor” It has a few small scratches and it has had some panels painted years ago (You can’t tell) but this car is original. The seats, the carpets, dash, engine compartment, are original; This car has not been restored. The floors are solid as shown. The rear bumper mounts are rot free. Even the undersides of the rear corners are solid. No dash lights are on. The car drives tightly. The car has a noisy exhaust. It has a small tear in the driver’s side lower seat cushion; there is also a small tear on the bottom rear cushion Windshield gasket has dried out, see picture The air conditioning does not operate, needs a charge, perhaps more I don’t know. I have owned five Mercedes collectables so I never drove any one too much. I no longer have a place to store it in the winters so it must go. I purchased this car in 2003 for $16,000 I have only put 2800 miles on it since that time. THERE IS NO RESERVE…..THIS IS A REAL AUCTION. The wheels have some chrome that is peeling. If you know and understand these cars you will understand that they need quite a bit of maintenance I am selling this car at no reserve please ask questions before bidding. I am going to Europe for an extended time I want to dispose of this car. I have the original Massachusetts title; you are buying this car from the registered owner. This is not some piece of junk that has been through an auction and many owners. I am sure that it will sell for a mere fraction of the amount that I paid for it a few thousand miles ago. Look at the reflections in the body for lines, they are perfect. Markets change……my loss your gain. The car shows just ORIGINAL miles In all, this is a classy, classic super-sedan that needs and wants to be driven. It is an excellent driver, and while not a show car, is very presentable as it is.
