Vehicle Detail

You are bidding on a non-running, as-is car. This car is being sold as-is, off the road, and needs to be towed. I need to get rid of this fast so please only bid if you can come to Hoboken this weekend (Oct 9th/10th) and get the car towed. I will be ready with the signed title. This car was a decent car in good running condition up until Friday, when it was affected by some flooding. I took the car to the mechanic and he says that it needs $300 to get it running (something about a fuel computer (?) or regulator that needs to be replaced, the part is not expensive but needs 3 hour labor). There might be other damage other than this. I am anyway due for a new car so decided to get rid of this one. Is is being sold as-is, could be a great second car or a student car, if you know how to fix cars or a backyard mechanic. It also could be used for parts. Before the incident I took care of the car, kept up with maintenance, oil changes, and tire rotation. Tires still have a good 25 K left on them. But it is still a 10 year old car with the following issues: - One of the backseat windows do not open - The top does not light up automatically when you open the door, it also is missing the switch, but the map light works. - The blower fan (for the AC/heat) is not working. I have a spare one in the trunk though but never installed it (You can have it). - The fuelcap cover is broken, I have replaced the cap with a keyed one. Actually looks cool. - The bumpers has scratches / car has a few scratches and dings here and there. I am very honest here about this car, someone else would have fixed it and never mentioned anything. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Starting at 99 cents, no reserve, 3 day only auction! My only condition again is that you are able to take this car this weekend, cash only. On Oct-06-10 at 06:34:00 PDT, seller added the following information: Hi, I got so many questions about prior maintenance done on the car, and the flooding incident, so here you go: Prior Maintenance (I have receipts from my mechanic which confirm this): - Changed all breaks, back car axles, engine mount rotors when I first got the car, all done between May and August of 2008 at approx 73K miles - New tires in August 2008, didn't go for a generic one went for 40K tires - Full maintenance at 75K miles: Car was shaking when idle, so took it to the mechanic and paid $400 in maintenance; filters, spark plugs, and many other things were changed. Car running great (and has been till Friday) - Changed front break pads as they rusted in November 2009 - Changed O2 sensor last Month - Oil and tire rotation done regularily on schedule Flooding Incident: Here is what happened: - The day after the flood: The car would crank, didn't start, left it (and got ticketed!) - Two days after: The car dried out, and it actually worked! The airbag light was on (I read online the fuses and all are under the steering wheel area, and common problem in Ford after flooding), and the car worked. But the key got stuck in ignition switch, so I took it to the mechanic (less than 0.5 miles). - Monday: The mechanic called and said the car wouldn't start, due to that computer thing which regulates the fuel (so according to him have it ran a little longer, it would have died on its own). Left to mention that over 20 other cars were parked in the area, and it looks like almost all of them were lucky as their cars seem to have worked (saw someone just drive away). So I wonder how bad the flood was it happened and ended in a matter of hours, the next morning it was all gone. Hope this helps!
