For sale is my 1989 Dark Metallic Gray Cadillac Allante. Total gray Allantes produced = 120 in 1989, 305 total out of 21,434. Owned since April 2009, I simply don't have the time to drive this beautiful, rare, fine, classic automobile. In the sixteen months I have owned it, I have accumulated just over two thousand miles, mostly summer highway trips. Always garaged and never driven in the winter. Engine is in nice shape, pulls hard. Transmission shifts smoothly through all gears. A very nice running Allante with a few quirks. Drive this fine car anywhere! Please see below for a detail of all systems: Body and paint: Designed by Pininfarina, straight, no visible signs of accident. There are some scratches and nicks present (it's a ten-footer, but very presentable), and the paint is sun faded on the hood in spots. Additionally, the tread on the driver's side front tire came off while on the highway and ripped off part of the trim on the door (see photos, visible under 'pininfarina' decal). Due to the price and relative scarcity of Allante specific parts, I never bothered looking into replacing this aesthetic-only damage (all tires, however, were replaced shortly after). Front bumper has small crack, and driver’s headlight also has small crack (does not affect functionality). There is no body rust that I can find. Soft top is in nice shape, no leaks. Hard top (original, matching) also comes with and is in nice shape without any leaks. Glass is good with no cracks. Engine and transmission: 4.5 liter V8 revs well, pulls hard, no flat spots on the torque curve that I can discern. Uses no oil. Transmission shifts smoothly in all gears. Battery was replaced in April 2010. AC was converted to R-134A and blows cold. Heat works correctly. Suspension and Steering: Rides very nicely, well-planted at highway speeds. Steers straight, however column is a little stiff (was replaced last summer with a used one due to a broken ignition switch actuator). In other words, the steering wheel requires a little more effort than ideal. The fix would be to open it back up and put a second application of grease, which I haven't had time to do. Interior: Leather is nice shape for a 21 year old car. No rips. Cassette player does not work. Previous owner had drilled two holes in plastic to put on a FM adapter, which has since been removed. Driver Information center is missing some pixels. Cruise control stopped working after steering column was replaced, unsure of cause. The turn signal stalk is a little finicky, requiring some coaxing to get it to stay on left turn or to flip to high beams. Windshield wipers work on slow and fast, but not intermittent settings. Also unsure of cause. Power windows work, but passenger side is slow and sometimes takes some coaxing to go down more than halfway. I have a replacement that I never got around to installing that will be made available to buyer. Locks, mirrors and seats work perfectly, as does the PASS security system. All gauges work properly. Radio works well, however left speaker is softer than right one. To my knowledge, all speakers have been upgraded to the higher amp models from a later year. Center console contains cup holders from a '93 Allante. Seatbelt clip on driver's seat is loose but still holds the belt fine. Top latchdown works. Mini covers are included and in nice shape. Power trunk works correctly; power antenna has been replaced with flexible plastic non-power unit. Original floor mats are included. Carpet is a little dirty in spots but shows well. I believe the interior is complete, not missing any trim accessories, etc. Visors have been upgraded to stay in place better. Tires and rims: 4 new tires were put on in June 2009 (Yokohama S.drive P225/55R16 Ultra high performance summer). Approx 90% tread remains-these tires have performed very well in the time I've had them. Wheels are original Allante parts with Deville center caps. Brakes: Master Cylinder was replaced in early 2008 by former owner. Pads, calipers and rotors are in good shape; vehicle stops very well. Additional notes: Per former owner, water pump, thermostat, pcv valve, window motors, fuel filter, transmission filter, rear rotors and pads, all burnt bulbs, many belts, hoses and small things and all fluids were changed in early 2008, and oil again in 2009. I just changed the oil in May 2010. Original 1988 (largely identical to 1989) owner manual and 1989 factory service manual will be included with sale. I also just had the water pump replaced (former owner installed incorrectly and it was leaking). Professionally done w/ receipt. Original keychain also included along with one set of original and one set of key copies. This has been an outstanding vehicle, and will make an excellent every day driver or weekend cruiser that doesn't need to be a garage queen.
