Vehicle Detail

1932 Essex Super Six Coupe Up for auction here is a 1932 Essex Super Six coupe that I am listing for a fellow who doesn't do eBay. Please understand that this vehicle does not belong to me and therefore I'm not interested in any trades. Sold new in North Carolina, this car belonged to the original owner until 1966 at which time it was traded to the current owner's brother. The original owner suffered a house fire and the car was traded as partial payment for the repairs to the home. The current owner purchased the car from his brother shortly afterward and in fact, this car still retains its original North Carolina title. At the time of sale in 1966 it was a relatively low mileage car and even today has only logged 46,544 miles. From what I've been able to determine, Hudson produced only 17,425 Essex Super Six cars (of all body styles) through July 1932, at which time they changed some of the sheetmetal and renamed them Essex-Terraplane cars. I've not been able to find any kind of breakdown as to how many of each body style were produced, but considering that there were at least three different coupes, three different sedans, a convertible coupe and a touring car offered, this has to be a fairly scarce car any way you look at it. This Model "E" Essex coupe underwent a thorough body off restoration by the late Tom Holley of Huntsville, Alabama from early 1973 through May 1976 and still looks fantastic. It was obviously a super straight car when the restoration was started and I believe that a few weekends of cleaning and polishing is all it really needs. Below is a description that is broken down into Body, Interior and Mechanical. If you have any questions after reading the description, please feel free to email me and I'll do my best to answer them, but be sure to email before the last day because I might not have time to answer. You can email me your questions about this car by clicking the "Ask Seller A Question" button at the top of the listing. Body: As I stated in the opening paragraph this car is very presentable as-is, but could definitely benefit from a few weekends of elbow grease and polish. It has some minor scuffs and a small scratch or two, but all in all it looks good. There are also some small "pimples" showing in the paint, typical of older lacquer, but they detract very little from the overall appearance. As for the condition of the body itself, the paint on this car is almost 35 year old lacquer so if there were any patch panels or body repair, it would certainly be showing up by now so I have no doubt that this car is all original sheetmetal. The plating is also very presentable but could use a good cleaning in places. Like they say, a picture is worth a thousand words so please study the photos below carefully. If you have questions about something that isn't shown or isn't clear in the photos, feel free to email me by clicking the "Ask Seller A Question" button at the top of the listing and I'll do my best to return your email in a timely manner. Interior: The interior on this Essex is done in genuine tan leather and still looks virtually new. There are a few minor scuffs on the seat and a few other places I noticed that could use a light cleaning, but overall it looks very presentable. The only major problem with the interior is moth damage to the headliner which can be seen in the photos below. Other than that, there's not really much to tell about the interior that isn't clearly visible in the pictures below. Feel free to email me if there is something you need to know that isn't shown. Mechanical: I don't know all that much about the mechanical condition of this car other than that it has a fresh fuel system and a recently rebuilt carburetor. The battery is fresh and it cranks and runs well. I knew the fellow who did the restoration work on this car and will attest to the fact that he did nothing but top notch work, so I have no doubt that all of the mechanical components were given the necessary attention during the restoration. There don't appear to be any abnormal leaks underneath and the motor sounds good and healthy when running. I can't think of anything else you might want to know but as always, if there's something that I neglected to mention please don't hesitate to shoot me an email and I'll answer it as quickly as possible. You can email me directly by clicking the "Ask Seller A Question" button at the top of the listing. Payment and Shipping Terms: If you're the winning bidder, I will require a $5000 deposit within 72 hours and the balance to be paid in cash or certified funds before the vehicle will be released. I will be more than happy to help with the shipping arrangements but any and all associated transportation costs will be the sole responsibility of the buyer. Also, the vehicle is available for inspection by SERIOUS BIDDERS at any time during the course of the auction. Please email me directly to make arrangements. Please note that this Essex is also f listed fro sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction early. Well, I've covered everything that I can think you'd want to know. Please let me know if you have any questions that you'd like answered and I'll get back to you ASAP. You can email me by clicking the "Ask Seller A Question" button at the top of the listing. Thanks for looking and GOOD LUCK!
