Vehicle Detail
This listing is for a '91 Mercedes 300D Turbo Diesel sedan with the 2.5L engine. It has 215,544mi on it however as you probably know these are reputed to be one of the longest running engines you can find. This one starts up and runs smoothly and returned 33mpg over 350+ miles for me in mixed highway/rural driving on a work trip I took the other day. It does need some attention to a couple repairs so I'll list the highlights and then what's needed below. Nice Interior: I've been pretty impressed by the way the interior has held up. All the seats are in very good condition and the carpets, dash etc. have held up well too. If you really like a spotless car you might get the interior detailed but it's pretty good as it is now. Take a look at the photos. Included are a set of Mercedes carpet mats and two Mercedes branded rubber mats for the rear. (It has rubber mats for the front too but they're nothing to brag about) Good running: The engine starts easily (granted it has been 80+ degrees F) and runs well. You can see a dash photo from when it was running illustrating the RPMs and oil pressure at idle. I looked over the rubber hoses for the cooling and turbo systems and they look good. The radiator looks like a newer unit and the engine\under hood area is impressively clean. The transmission shifts fine and the fluid looks and smells clean. It doesn't hesitate at all before engaging when you shift between park and reverse or drive. Work needed: Idler pulley Rear window Ball joint Spring tower repair Loose right front trim panel + bumper damage The idler pulley for the serpentine belt needs replaced since it squeaks when running. The drivers side turn signal is loose however I have replacement clear corner turn signal units that I'll include with the car. The rear passenger window is loose from it's motor so it doesn't power down (it'll come down about 1/2"-1" on it's own from road bumps but slides back up by hand). Last but not least the passengers side front spring tower is rusted on the rear side of the tower and the extra stress caused the ball joint to break on me in a parking lot. With the ball joint replaced it should be easy to load and drive in the driveway but the spring tower should be fixed for roadway use. If you want to bring a replacement joint to install before loading I should be able to help with that. I included photos of the compromised spring tower as well pics illustrating the integrity of the other corners. REMEMBER! You'll need a trailer to take it home. I've had trouble with buyers not taking this seriously and thus I'm listing it for the third time. I'm open to offers but please only if you are serious about the transaction. Grab it with the Buy It Now option or make me an offer...Thanks for looking! (Note I'm located near Perrysburg, OH)
