Vehicle Detail
This Honda CB160 was purchased used in Colorado by my dad in 1977 and has been in storage since around 1985. I found it in an outbuilding early this year and brought it back to Oregon with the intent of restoring it as a daily driver. It has a clear Oregon title and is insured and registered in Oregon. After seeing my restoration results, it sunk in with my family how serious I was about doing this at which point they voiced their concerns about my riding in heavy Portland traffic so I've abandoned my pursuit of a motorcycle endorsement at their request. But just because I've chickened out doesn't mean the bike should go back into storage so I've decided to sell it. As stated above, this bike is 45 years old and was restored to be a daily driver. Restoration was a partial restoration meaning that it was not restored to a new condition. It runs, all electrical and mechanical systems work including clutch, shifter, throttle, brakes, etc, and it has a clear title. The engine was NOT rebuilt and does smoke a bit on the right cylinder. I don't know if it's in need of rebuild or simply needs to be run a few miles to loosen up sticky rings after sitting for the past 15 years. I've only ridden it about 3 miles since bringing it home but during those 3 miles, all systems were go go go. The engine runs and idles great. After it's warm, the engine will start with just a bump of the starter or one kick (at sea level anyway), no guarantees where you live. During the partial restoration, I've replaced the following with new parts: speedo cable front brake cable throttle cable headlight battery battery cable ends front and rear tires front and rear tire tubes emblems (repro) speedo pod status lights main drive chain front foot peg and shifter rubber fuel lines horn (after market but with original mounting and wiring left in tact) ignition points carburator rebuild (jets, gaskets, seals, valves, mixture screws, both carbs) replaced fluid in front fork shocks. spark plugs Partial restoration also included the media blast, primer, and repaint of all sheetmetal parts. Chrome, stainless, aluminum parts were buffed and polished. Wheels rims and hubs are partially buffed but not fully detailed. Front steering bearings were cleaned and regreased. Swing arm pivot was cleaned and greased. All electrical components work including headlight, horn, tail light, brake light, high/low beam, and neutral and high beam indicators. The fuel tank has points of very light surface rust inside (see picture). Here's the bad: I replaced the filter material in the air filters but, sadly, I think I did a poor job in getting the spacing between the pleats right and it looks rather sloppy (see pictures) but they are sealed and functional. There are rough spots on the front and rear fenders that I thought I did a better job at repairing and then discovered differently after paint. There's a slight wrinkle in the paint near the gas cap filler. The seat is original and has tears that I've patched with a vinyl patch cement (see pictures). The headlight pod has a small ding on the right near the chrome ring. The mufflers both have dents and baffle is missing. The tail light lens has a crack on top (see picture). there's a dent at the bend of the right side handle bar (see picture). As mentioned above, the right cylinder smokes. Having said all of that, this sale is final and without warranty. No sales outside of the continental US. No crating unless you we agree on a fee specifically to crate it in addition to the winning bid. Delivery of the bike is your sole responsibility. I'll work with shippers to an extent but I won't trailer/ride the bike to anywhere but my own front yard. Plates and insurance will be pulled upon sale so any insurance or registration you need beyond my signing over the title will be your own responsibilty. On Sep-20-10 at 07:52:47 PDT, seller added the following information: Technical Specs (from http://www.technical-specification.com/honda-cb160-specs-engine-transmission-chassis): Engine type Air cooled, 4-stroke, 2-cylinders, parallel 30 degree up from horizontal Valves Overhead type Combustion chamber Semi-spherical Cylinder capacity 0.16 litre Bore x stroke 50 x 41 mm Compression ratio 8.5 : 1 Maximum output 16.5 hp at 10,000 rpm Maximum torque 1.24 mkg at 8,500 rpm Starting system Electric starter and kick starter Ignition system Battery spark Carburetor type, number Piston valve type, 2 each Air cleaner type Filter paper Fuel tank capacity 10.5 litre Lubrication system Pump and splash system combined Oil pump type Plunger Oil filter type Wire mesh and centrifugal system combined Battery voltage/capacity 12 V/ 9 AH TRANSMISSION Transmission system Constant gear system Reduction ratio 3.700 Clutch type Wet multi-plate Gear ratio 1 2.768 Gear ratio 2 1.778 Gear ratio 3 1.318 Gear ratio 4 1.040 Final reduction ratio 2.625 CHASSIS Overall length 1.947 mm Overall width 0.745 mm Overall height 0.990 mm Wheelbase 1.277 mm Ground clearance 0.145 mm Dry weight 127 kg Front suspension Telescopic Rear suspension Swinging arm Shock absorber Coil spring with oil absorberOn Sep-20-10 at 15:19:14 PDT, seller added the following information: On Sep-21-10 at 09:45:03 PDT, seller added the following information:
