RED 1983 MERCEDES BENZ 300TD DIESEL WAGON WITH 239,039 MILES. This car is in fair condition and will make the buyer a good daily driver but could use some work. Please understand that this is an older car, and it is sold "AS IS, WHERE IS." Please carefully review the photos below and contact me with any questions. Here are some things you should know as you bid: INTERIOR: The interior is in very good condition with the exception of a tear in the driver's seat (see photo). Seat covers are included for the front seats. The manual sunroof works well and really adds to the enjoyment of this car. The radio does not work. The car is equipped with air conditioning; however, the air is not cold. It may just need to be charged. The vacuum powered door locks do not work. ENGINE AND DRIVE TRAIN: This diesel runs strong. That's really no surprise given that these engines commonly run as many as 500,000 miles. It would benefit from new glow plugs, and I will include a new set in the sale. I well also include a valve cover gasket for the first time you adjust the valves (you need to do this annually on any Mercedes diesel from this era). The oil was changed along with oil and fuel filters within the last 100 miles. The transmission shifts well but hard. The shift linkage is sloppy. SUSPENSION AND BRAKES: The hydraulic self-leveling rear suspension needs to be rebuilt, but otherwise the suspension seems to be in good condition. The brakes are also in good condition, but the parking brake does not work. BODY: The car is pretty, but it does have significant rust. As illustrated in the photos, the rust is primarily located on the rear hatch, passenger rocker panels, front fenders, and the lower corners of the front doors and the rear passenger door. Again, please see the photos. I will also include the extra body panels photographed (front doors and hatch) and a rear bumper that could be used to restore the car. PAYMENT TERMS: A deposit of $500 is due within 48 hours of the close of the auction. This must be paid through PayPal. The balance must be paid within 7 days by certified check, money or, if in person, cash. Upon receipt of full payment, the title will be delivered to the buyer.
