Vehicle Detail

1931 Dodge 4-door sedan, still all original! This car was stored many years, at least since around 1950, and always inside out of the weather. As far as I can tell, all of the paint is still the factory applied paint other than a spot or two where someone has welded cracks in the fenders and touched it up. Even the interior is still original and has the old style seat covers still in place. I do think that the bumpers and grille shell have been rechromed at some point, they look too nice for being that old and would not need to be re-done. The body is solid with very minimal rust. The running boards are a bit tacky and should probably be replaced. Even some of the original red pinstriping is still present on the body and wheels. The wood wheels appear to be solid and just fine. The tires hold air, but are not road worthy. I had the car running earlier this year but haven't recently - I removed the oil pan first, cleaned everything in the engine, cleaned the carburator, etc., and it started up and seemed to run ok. I didn't run it long but it did have good oil pressure. I drove it around the yard a bit, the transmission works just fine as does the emergency brake. The regular brakes are not working at this time. Exterior soft roof insert does need replacement, it's partially missing. The headliner is still present and fairly decent. I thought I would have the time to work on it but have decided to sell it instead. It's a very nice car for the age, it's complete so a person would not need to chase down hard-to-find parts. With some work it could be roadworthy as is but would also make a wonderful base for an easy restoration. It does have a clear Minnesota title in my name and I have tracked it's ownership back many years, probably to its original owners. The bidding will start at just $4,700, after that there is no reserve. Personal viewing prior to bidding is both welcomed and encouraged - it's a great old car and I'd prefer someone see it in person. It can be stored up to a month from the end of the auction. It's in storage in Corcoran, MN, which is just about 25 miles west of Minneapolis. The buyer will need to arrange their own shipping but I can make a recommendation if requested.
