UP FOR AUCTION IS A 1963 MG MIDGET MK1 , THIS IS A VERY NICE CALIFORNIA CAR, IT SPENT THE FIRST 22 YEARS IN CALIFORNIA (MORENO VALLEY) AND THE REMAINDER OF TIME IN PENNSYLVANIA. (it was in storage) I PURCHASED THE CAR 3 YEARS AGO ,AND PUT IT BACK TOGETHER, THE CAR WAS IN BOXES WHEN I PURCHASED IT. (engine and transmission were out of the car) THE CAR HAS NOT BEEN ON THE ROAD IN OVER TWENTY YEARS, AFTER ASSEMBLY I DID DRIVE IT FOR APPROX 10 MILES, THE REAR END SOUNDS NICE (NO LOUD NOISES) AND THE TRANSMISSION RUNS AND SOUNDS VERY NICE. THIS IS A NON SYNCHROMESH 1 ST GEAR TRANSMISSION ,,,,,,THE ENGINE SOUNDS NICE, NO LOUD NOISES , NO BEARING NOISES,, NO SMOKING ,,, THE STEERING IS VERY NICE AND TIGHT,,, AND THE SUSPENSION IS NICE. I REPLACED THE RADIUS ARM ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE (forty dollar item) AND IT NEEDS ONE FOR THE LEFT, IT WAS BACK-ORDERED WHEN I ORDERED THE RIGHT ONE. THIS CAR HAS AN EXCEPTIONAL ALL METAL BODY, VERY ORIGINAL, THIS IS A UNIQUE MODEL , NO EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLES , DISC BRAKES IN THE FRONT ,QUARTER ELIPTICAL REAR SUSPENSION (HALF LEAF SPRING SUSPENSION) THE BRAKE SYSTEM NEEDS ATTENTION,,,, CURRENTLY THE MASTER CYLINDER NEEDS REBUILT, ( I HAVE A REBUILD KIT FOR IT) ,,,,,BUT IDEALLY THIS CAR NEEDS THE BRAKE SYSTEM SWITCHED TO THE LATER TYPE WHERE THE BRAKE CYLINDER IS SPLIT,,,,, SEPERATE FRONT AND REAR CYLINDERS WHICH WAS AVAILABLE ON THE LATER MODEL MIDGETS ,,,,,,,JUST TO BE ON THE SAFE SIDE, THE PICTURES WILL TELL THIS CAR'S STORY, THERE IS NO BUBBLING BODYWORK ANYWHERE ON THIS CAR, THERE WAS ONE PAINT JOB IN 47 YEARS ,,,,,THE ORIGINAL COLOR WAS BRIGHT WHITE (as evidence of the engine compartment color ) THE COLOR NOW IS OLD ENGLISH WHITE, THIS WAS PAINTED SOMETIME IN THE EIGHTIES, I HAVE THE COLOR CODE FOR THE OLD ENGLISH WHITE. THE INTERIOR IS VERY NICE,,,,, AND THE STEERING WHEEL IS A FRENCH MADE LACARRERA. THIS IS ELIGIBLE FOR VINTAGE RACING, ALSO ONE OF THE NEAT ENGINE SWAPS THAT HAVE BEEN DONE WITH THESE MIDGETS ARE THE ROTARY ENGINE, 5 SPEED SWAPS.. SOME OF THE THINGS I HAVE DONE ,,,,,, BEAD BLASTED 5 RIMS 5 NEW TIRES AND TUBES... INSTALLED AND BALANCED. NEW CONVERTIBLE TOP IN TAN . NEW PLEXIGLASS WINDOWS IN THE SIDE CURTAINS AND THE RUBBER SURROUND.. NEW MIRROR ON THE DRIVERS DOOR (talbot style) I HAVE IT'S MATCH FOR THE PASSENGER DOOR,,, I JUST DIDN'T HAVE THE HEART TO BE DRILLING ON A VIRGIN DOOR. ALL NEW RADIATOR HOSES IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, ALONG WITH NEW FUEL HOSES. SPARK PLUG WIRES.....OIL CHANGE, FILL TRANSMISSION, ANTIFREEZE. AMBER FOG LITES (PERIOD 70'S LITES) THESE ARE INSTALLED AND OPERABLE...... THE CLEAR HELLA DRIVING LITES (german) ARE NOT WIRED UP . EVERYTHING IS THERE INCLUDING WIRING HARNESS AND RELAY THE TRUNK LOCK WORKS AND HAS THE ORIGINAL KEY,,,,, TAILIGHT LENSES,,,, FRONT AND REAR ,,,,,ARE THE ORIGINAL LENSES... WINDSHEILD WIPERS WORK,,,,, PARKING LIGHTS WORK, HEADLIGHTS WORK, HIGH AND LOW BEAM... BRAKE LIGHTS ARE CURRENTLY NOT WORKING.
