Vehicle Detail

For Sale beautiful 1976 BMW 2002 sports sedan, Sahara/Tan, 105K original miles in completely original condition with an incredibly rust free body and chassis. 4-speed manual transmission for sporty shifting, Sunroof car and has original dealer installed WORKING Behr A/C system. What isn't original is a Weber carb and aftermarket radio. Car is in just amazing condition being a Georgia car its entire life. I'm told they don't use salt on those roads. Owned last 24 years by a Doctor there who 1) garaged the car since 1987 2) never drove in the winter and rarely in weather of any sort and 3) who spent $3500 in 2000 for a brand new correct replacement engine from BMW. Car only had less than 1000 miles put on new engine as car has essentially been stored entire 10 years in climate control storage and not driven. Doctor wanted to sell car to someone who would enjoy it and spent over $1500 in parts alone to prepare car for sale after its long hibernation. Work was done in June/July 2010 and included: fuel system serviced and carb adjusted, radiator recored/rebuilt, complete tune-up performed, new fluids, filters and some hoses, new brakes with calipers and wheel cylinders and a new starter. New alternator and new battery were installed in 2008. Tires are correct replacement Michelins with good tread remaining and no dry rot. Factory steel wheels were repainted recently. Suspension and steering are very tight, and car drives very well. Clutch and transmission function well, are strong, neither worn or sloppy. Exhaust system is older but also functions fine and sounds right. Everything works on this car as it should including fly and window regulators, manual sunroof (btw, seal is perfect and DOES NOT LEAK!,) A/C, heater, rear defroster and intermittent wipers (blades are also new.) What doesn't work is dash lights and odometer stopped working during my nine hour drive from Georgia to Florida. Dash has a couple tiny miniscule cracks, barely evident, but there. Dash is supple, tho, not dry nor brittle. Rest of interior is near perfect, in very very good condition. Front and rear seats were recovered sometime in factory correct material and look showroom new. Door panels are perfect. Carpet is also original in very very good condition, not dry rotted at all, with one small section of tears under passenger foot area. This area is completely covered by rubber floor mats and can not be seen unless mats are removed. I would live with this and never replace original carpet; they are just not the same! Headliner is also in excellent condition and is original with next to no marks or discoloration. A few small cracks exist near rear window on passenger side, but otherwise headliner is not dry nor brittle. Perfect straight original body wearing its original Sahara paint. Car does have multiple TINY little dings and dents from 34 years of use, but none are glaring and really obvious. Most you really have to being looking hard to see. ANY of these imperfections could easily be rolled out by a dent specialist. Trim also has its fair share of dings but is otherwise clean, shiny and complete. Paint is original and as such, is rather dull and oxidized. Doctor had two small parking lot dents repaired and repainted, one in rear passenger side quarter, the other in license plate panel under trunk line. Both areas have paint that has crackled over time. If you want a nice original driver, you enjoy the car as is. If over time you want to restore to near perfection, a complete paint job would be in order. Maybe a dozen small areas of surface rust exist on car, all smaller than a dime in size, nothing cancerous at all. Rest of car is immaculate and rust free including inside hood, engine compartment, firewall, floor pans, door bottoms inside and out, quarters, wheel wells, trunk, shock towers, rockers. I have owned 4 2002's and have known dozens through friends and car clubs. My first car in 1976 was a 1969 2002. NONE of those cars were as clean and rust free as this car. One or two were close, none were better than this. This survivor is a truly rare example and great find. The reason I sell is I honestly couldn't afford the car at this time when I found it, but it was so pristine I couldn't pass it up. I want the car to go to another BMW afficianado who can really appreciate how hard it is to find cars in this condition anymore. I started looking 1 1/2 years ago when I could have afforded it, and left the state to look at four cars, and looked at another half dozen here. Car is sold as it with no implied warranty. Shipping or pickup is the sole responsibility of the purchaser. Car also is listed for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction at any time if car sells first outside of the Ebay community. Georgia does not require cars older than 1984 be titled, it is optional. While the Doctor owned the car 24 years, I'm told it is not currently titled. Car comes with a (still) current Georgia registration good until November 2010 and a bill of sale. My states DMV (Florida) said no problem getting a Florida title with registration and bill of sale, as they appear familiar dealing with older cars from Georgia. If you have questions, contact your state DMV first. If you want verification, Georgia's website is: www.dds.ga.gov Also, the Doctor could be made available if any corroboration is necessary to title the vehicle. This car is just gorgeous, it sits perfectly like they did from the factory and so few do today. The doors close well and solidly, and don't hang on their hinges from wear. Engine compartment is very clean and original, and still has the original factory hood insulation all there and in good condition. Trunk is near perfect, has both boards in very good condition, and the unused original spare, wheel and jack kit. Lastly....I know shipping can be an expensive proposition when buying a car, up to $1000 or more. I do business between Florida and Chicago and Florida and Boston a couple times a year. While I don't promise anything, a drop off of the car may be a possibility. Let's talk, see what's fair and discuss the opportunity if you require or are interested. Of course, the purchase of the car would have to be fully consumated before such an arrangement. Sorry, I am not driving the car up anywhere on "spec." If you want to see the car, come see it in sunny So. Florida before you bid. I will answer any question I can for you to the best of my ability. Thank you for looking and happy bidding! On Sep-07-10 at 21:58:32 PDT, seller added the following information:To be more specific, there IS a Georgia title number listed on the registration, and right next to the number is says: (non-titled.) So your state can cross-reference that number.
