Vehicle Detail
1966 Ford Mustang Convertible Short History I bought this (my dream car) with the expectation of gradually upgrading features/equipment over the years and enjoying it with my family. Unfortunately, I bought the car from someone in upstate New York who misrepresented the underside condition of the car as better than it was. I could (and have) used it as is but to get full enjoyment out of it for trips and weekends getaways I had to make a decision about whether I would invest the money and get it repaired or sell to someone who has the time, talent, or inclination to repair the underside of this car. I am choosing the latter and starting fresh on a new search. So, my loss is your gain. This former Georgia (now Florida) car looks great but needs work primarily to the undercarriage. I will honestly and accurately represent its condition so that you know what you're getting. Please do not take that to mean it's a clunker or in awful shape - it's certainly not. I simply mean that I'll be factual and realistic about what needs to be done to make it worry-free for you. Exterior Body – Overall Good condition ? Chrome in excellent condition ? Paint in very good condition – about 4 years old with a few light scratches but multiple layers and clearcoat finish. Candy apple red. ? Manual top is new & glass all around in very good condition ? Some original panels. No Bondo or filler. ? No apparent rust coming through paint ? New Headlight bulbs. Tail lights working. Radio works fine. ? Body has dent in right rear panel ? Cowling looks clean Interior – Overall Very Good Condition ? Black interior (bucket seats, carpet, and dash) in decent shape ? Basic floor console – shifts fine ? Trunk and spare tire have plaid covering ? Glove box door works fine – original owners manual in glove box ? Inside door panels in good condition. Door handles/locks/windows work fine Undercarriage – Poor Condition. Significant rust. ? Needs full floor plans, inner/outer rocker panels ? Bottom of left rear panel has crack in front of wheel Engine/Powertrain – 289 V8 2BBL. Auto Trans. Good working order ? Was told both were rebuilt in year before I bought it and I’ve had it for 3 years. I’ve put about 400 miles on it. ? Removed carburetor and added new electronic ignition ? Engine starts right up and runs strong ? Transmission needs new seal or bushing (minor repair per local shop) as it is slowly leaking fluid. Shifts just fine. ? I replaced oil pan gasket and had shop prime/paint the pan in Ford Blue ? New battery and battery cables ? New 3-core radiator and hoses ? New Air filter and chrome casing ? New fan and fan belt Brakes/Wheels ? Front/rear drums brakes about halfway worn. Not power. ? Small leak in left front caliper. Roadworthy and brakes fine but makes sense to have local shop replace both brake calipers for peace of mind. ? Wheels covers are factory hub caps I will be glad to answer any questions you may have about this car and provide details, clarifications, etc. I have downloaded several pictures which should give you a sense for the fun this car will provide and why I bought it in the first place. If you have the time and talent to make some fairly common repairs then you will be doing yourself a favor by picking this car up for a song. This car must be seen to be appreciated and she is available for inspection in Orlando, FL. If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to email me at withee@mindspring.com. Shipping will be at buyer's expense and a $1,000 non-refundable deposit must be made within 24 hours of auction end.
