Vehicle Detail
If you want a classic…this 1963 Grand Prix is the car you have been waiting for. The car was originally from Texas and then moved to Florida just before I bought it in August 2005. The mileage at that time was 48,025 and was claimed to be original. While I cannot guarantee if that was accurate, given it’s condition I believe that it was. The speedometer/odometer has continued to work and the car now has 50,673 miles. So I have driven it only 2k miles in the 5 years I have owned it. California title is clear. Here is what is right about the condition of the car. The 389/303 hp 4-barrel engine was completely rebuilt at 45,000 miles, and it is in excellent condition and runs strong. The Slim Jim roto-hydromatic automatic transmission shifts smoothly. All of the lights and electrical work. Electric windows work like new and no cracks in windows. Rear windshield glass is excellent, with that beautiful concave curve unique to Pontiac. The vacuum gauge works as does the temp, oil pressure and fuel gauges. Weather-stripping is in very good condition having been redone before I bought the car. The wheels are 17” American Racing Torque Thrust, very shiny and in excellent shape. The tires are low profile 17” 225x50 (Nitto NT-450) front and 235x55 Dunlop Sport A2 in back with over 75% tread left. Both the front and back seats are in very good shape with no cuts or cracks, but driver bottom seat could use some re-stuffing since it is a little soft. The bronze interior door panels are in excellent shape and while the door handles are good, I have some new replica door handles that will be included. The exterior chrome is in excellent shape, I have replaced most of the badges as well as the chrome on the fog lights. The rear taillight panels have some pitting on the chrome which was normal for these cars, but the tail light lenses are in very good condition. The steering wheel is original and while the clear plastic has some discoloration it is not broken. It is very cool. I have also replaced the center chrome piece. The dashboard veneer is ok. No damage but a little dull. I have replacement veneer which will be included. The body panels are straight and there is no rust that I can see other than a couple of bubbles under the paint at the lower left rear window corner. The exterior white paint is truly stunning! It was in great condition when I bought the car, but I personally spent over 30 hours color sanding the paint using professional detailing products. Now the paint really shines and pops! With the bronze interior this car really draws a lot of admiring looks when people see it. Here is what I know doesn’t work: The radio and the heater/blower did not operate at the time I bought the car and I have been reluctant to have the dashboard pulled… so don’t know if they can work. The dashboard top overall is in good shape but the vinyl covering has a couple of small cracks in the center and far right side. The brakes operate just fine, but the front brakes could probably use some new shoes. . So why am I selling this beauty? I have invested over $17k in the car, but for the last 4 years I have averaged only about 250 miles a year. I bought a house on the Sonoma coast next to the ocean with no garage… so the car is kept garaged in the SF Bay area. It hardly gets any use since I have four other cars. What a shame. Somebody with more time needs to give this car a good home. While it is not a “show car” it comes pretty close. You don’t have to do anything to it but just drive it and have fun! I have tried to describe the condition the best that I can, but I am not a mechanic, so you are welcome to have it inspected. You can also drive it if you are in the SF Bay area. Sold as is. A deposit of $1,000 is due within 24 hours and the balance within 7 days by cash or wire transfer. Buyer to arrange and pay for shipping.
