Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a rare 1979 cj5 renegade. Jeep needs transmission work. engine runs great. all original has a new carburator and gas pump. engine is a 258 6 cylinder and runs great. also recently had a full tune up. body is in great shape. pictures are very recent. back bed has a tiny bit of surface rust which has recently happened . can easily be sanded off. Was going to get the inside of the body sprayed with line x but have decided to sell the jeep instead. This jeep was used on a country club and has been garage kept. only one previous owner before. if any questions please call michael at 843 224 1503. jeep frame has been garage kept and is in perfect condition no rust. once again transfer case locked up on me on highway . transmission needs work. no time money or mechanical know how left to take care of her any longer good luckOn Sep-04-10 at 07:19:27 PDT, seller added the following information: had somebody look at my jeep yesterday. ok here is the story. this transmission always worked great last fall a friend had the pin fall out of the clutch when he was driving it. he got a bolt. probably not the right one to go with the clutch but one that pretty much fit. still after that transmission and everything worked fine. this winter i got jeep stuck in my yard and tried to get it out and couldn't it sat there for about two months and finally got it out after area dried real well. anyway it sat in 4wd and when the buddy helped me get it out it was kind of stuck in 4wd. we finally were able to get it out in two wheel but it was tough with the transfer case. anyway the guy who looked at the jeep said that he thinks that the clutch is locked up. that would explain while i went from 60 mph to 0mph in about 3 seconds on the interstate. I am thinking that the bolt he used in the clutch might of had something to do with everything with it not going into gear. also transmission always worked fine. jeep still for sale just thought that i would disclose this info. could just be clutch locked up. or could be tranny clutch and transfer case. something tells me that it might mainly be the clutch. thank you and good luck
