Vehicle Detail
Very rare and collectible 1966 Bronco factory Roadster (U13). 1966 was the first year of production for the legendary Ford Bronco. First introduced in August 1965 as a 1966 model. The earliest Broncos, such as this one were aqvailable with a 170 cubic inch 6 cylinder engine boasting 105 horsepower. Standard rear end gears were 4.11 or you could opt for a 4.56 limit slip which this truck features. During the first three years of production the Bronco was available as a 2 door wagon (U15), a sport utility half cab (U14), and the more rare Roadster (U13). The roadster was discontinued at the end of the 1968 production year. This is an early 1966 example. Total production of the original body style broncos from 1966 to 1977 was 225,585 units. Of these there were only 5,000 roadsters produced with a little over 100 known to have survived today. (see www.roadsteru13.com) This bronco underwent a frame off restoration with detailed undercarriage in 2010 by Beach City Broncos in San Diego, Ca. 619 997-9954. The frame, axle housings, and complete body were stripped to bare metal. The drive train was freshened, painted and detailed. All the brake and fuel lines were replaced. Approximately 500 hours were spent on the bodywork and paint. Paint is top of the line rangoon red PPG base and clear coat. Features include a 170 cubic inch 6 cylinder engine, "three on the tree" 3 speed transmission, original bucket seats with silver upholstery which was unique to the 1966 year only, bulkhead separating the rear cargo compartment with mounted spare, 4.56 limit slip gear ratio; optional "custom equipment group" consisting of rear light bezels and chrome hubcaps, cigar lighter, horn button and visors. The early Ford Bronco has achieved a cult status in recent years with the roadster model being recognized as of late. The 1966 roadster is one of the rarest Broncos ever produced and a fine example for a collector or car show enthusiest. Great care was taken to make this restoration as close to the original vehicle as possible. This truck was proudly exhibited at Fabulous Fords in 2010. The restoration costs for this project far exceed the opening bid. As is sale described as accurately as possible. This is a no reserve auction. Please review my feedback and bid with confidence. I'm happy to make this truck available for inspection in San Diego. I am happy to assist with shipping arrangements. If you have any questions feel free to call me at 619 997-9954 Mark in San Diego.
