FOR SALE BY OWNER Beautiful 1929 Pontiac 6-29 Big Six 2 Door Standard Coupe This listing is for a 1929 Pontiac 2 door Standard Coupe. The owner properly restored this car about 10 years ago, however the owner passed away of cancer... so I don't have many details on the restoration. However, here is what I have come up with ... In 1929, Pontiac introduced the Series 6-29 Big Six, which was originally a Vauxhall, the British subsidiary GM had acquired. Engine displacement increased to 200.4 c.i. in 1929, and hp increased by 25 percent to 57 at 3000 rpm. Power had increased by two-thirds in just two years. Exterior color became popular, and Pontiac began offering an array of standard paint colors for every model. Pontiac built its 500,000th car in 1929. Then, the stock market crashed, leading to the first ever decrease in demand for the nameplate. There were only 8,950 Pontiac 2-door standard coupes produced in 1929... only a fraction of these exist today. And while these cars are still out there... a search of ebay, Hemmings, Auto Trader and a combined national search of Craigslist could not yield ONE single 1929 Pontiac Coupe for sale right now in the world. This car is an investment that will surely yield big rewards if properly maintained. The photos do not do this car justice, in fact I was even a little surprised the first time I saw it. It is truly a unique piece of Harley Earl designed American History. It has always been garaged and is in VERY good condition outside and inside. The two tone green and black paint has a very nice shine to it and the panels appear to line up nicely. The car runs and drives nicely however, today the battery was dead from sitting when I took photographs, so we pushed it outside to photograph it, but it will be charged up when you are ready to pick up or have your shipping company pick it up. Since the car was restored around 10 years ago, there is a few places that could use some detailing. Buy it this week, show it this weekend. While there is a few details of the older restoration that need touched up, this car could be shown this weekend! However, I want to clarify... this is not a Concourse quality 100 point restoration. It still needs some things to make it a true show car, but the car is 80+ old and will be hitting the 100 year old make within the next 20 years. In fact, the car is older than probably 98% of Ebay users! I would call this restoration a above average driver quality. But, with that said... this is a car you can drive & enjoy. Perfect for shows or a cruise in the local Christmas parade. Features Restored in the late 90's. 2 Door Coupe Flathead 6 cylinder / 3-speed transmission Green/Black exterior, Light green interior ALWAYS stored in a garage Car is currently located at my parents house in Beckley, WV... however I can deliver to locations between Beckley and my home in Mooresville, NC. I had planned on bringing it home this past weekend when I was up there but it was raining on Sunday. I will be bringing it here around the second week of August if it doesn't sell on here. OR, if you are planning on having it shipped, have the broker quote you from Exit 44 off of I-77 in Beckley, WV, 25801. I can give you the number of a shipping broker out of Atlanta that I used once two years ago. He works through a national database and can typically have your car picked up within 24 hours of the payment clearing the bank. (good guy to work with, and reasonable) Typically, it would cost around $600 to ship the car from WV to New England or deep south, $800 to the midwest, or $1,000 to the west coast. (hope that helps). If you would like an enclosed trailer, the cost will be a bit more. Buyer is responsible for all shipping costs. If you are in the Charlotte area, I can pick the car up and bring it back for the cost of fuel. I will consider interesting trades for this car. No projects please, please email your inquiries. $1,000 deposit due within 48 hours of auction close. Car sold as/is. Please ask questions before you bid. On Aug-24-10 at 18:19:13 PDT, seller added the following information: Reserve and "Buy It Now" have been lowered. I am motivated to sell this car. Bid to win. On Aug-31-10 at 19:08:34 PDT, seller added the following information: Reserve met... this car will sell to the highest bidder. Good luck and Happy Bidding!
