Vehicle Detail
This 1971 Landcruiser was sold new by Maginnis Chevrolet in Yreka, California. The history provided to me was that it was one of several Landcruisers purchased by a large cattle ranching family. I'm told this particular Landcruiser was the personal vehicle of the ranch patriarch for use in ranching operations, which included service in the reserve component of the Siskiyou County Sheriff's Office for protection against cattle rustlers. This would go a long way toward explaining how this wagon got through life with such low mileage and such little wear and tear, considering its working history. I purchased the Cruiser to use as a family camping vehicle and light-duty off-roader. However, upon taking delivery, I was absolutely stunned at its originality, and just could not bring myself to start modifying the truck and destroying its heritage. I've decided to sell the cruiser and replace it with a less collectible vehicle. This Cruiser was a real “barn-find”, having literally been stored in a nice barn in the gentle, dry climate of inland California by the original owner's son. The wagon was not really being used, but was started regulary to keep everything in good condition. The clear California title is still in the name of the original owner, which would make whoever buys this truck the second owner in the vehicle's history. The original California blue license plates provide an excellent opportunity for someone from the state to keep those plates actively registered. With regard to originality, this Crusier is without peer, and I think one would have an extremely difficult, if not impossible, task of duplicating this opportunity. Most of these wagons have been the victim of rust, abuse, and modification. This Cruiser is matching numbers with the original engine, and is incredibly rust and damage free. Almost everything is factory original and as-shipped by the factory, including the paint, floor mats, factory-crimped brake lines, shocks, headlights, glass, air conditioning, etc. Even the factory spotwelds are clearly visible around the vehicle. I am told the 63,000+ miles are original, as well. Please check out this link to view well over one hundred photos: http://www.flickr.com/photos/tangerinet73/sets/72157624781543028/ The Cruiser comes with its original and complete factory toolkit, with some items still wrapped in the original plastic. The components that are stored under the rear seat are present and are just about perfect, appearing to have never been used. The Cruiser also comes with just about all of the original docs, including the owner's manual, vehicle ID card, warranty card, Warn locking hub instructions, air conditioning manual, and original ignition key. I haven't done much to the wagon since buying it, other than to do a partial re-build of the suspension. I've been driving it some, but it really needs a brake job to be safe. To limit my liability, I will not release the wagon unless it is picked up with a trailer or flatbed. Once you get it home, it is up to you. The wagon is unbelievable for being nearly 40 years old and completely un-restored. If you keep that in mind, you will be more than pleased with it. It would be a great candidate for a restoration and car shows, or just to do the little things and drive as-is. The wagon is incredibly complete. All of the little detail items and hard to find parts are present, such as the front and rear light lenses, original bumpers, name plates, ashtrays, cigarette lighter, etc. Not only are they there, but they are unbroken and in great condition. The car has some neat features, as well, such as the radio-delete option with the factory radio-delete dash plate and no hole having been cut into the fender for an antenna. I think the pictures say a thousand words, but feel free to send me any questions you may have. I'm not a Lancruiser expert, just a guy who appreciates this wagon, so those kind of questions are best left to a specialist shop. Auction terms and conditions: This is a vintage, unrestored vehicle and is being sold as-is, where-is, with no warranty or guarantee of any type.
