Vehicle Detail
For sale is a 1982 Mercedes-Benz 300SD. It has been my project car for a couple of years; I intended to fully restore it but I will be moving out of the country come New Years and would like to pass the car onto someone else. The good about the car: It was a California car for the first half of its life & has very little rust; a small amount on the rear passenger 3/4 doorjamb area and some in the spare tire well. I bought it in fair running condition, it was a daily driver until the inspection expired (July 2008). Has 4 new tires. Has new exhaust components. Has a new battery. New front suspension parts (control arms, tie rods, etc...). New rear window & seal. I stripped the interior down to the body and cleaned/repaired parts as needed during reassembly, also found no rust. Lights, signals, seats, windows, sunroof are all functional. The bad about the car: Title shows true mileage unknown, odometer is stuck at 240136. (Title is otherwise clear) I have not started the car for 18 months...however it started easily and ran consistently until February 2009. When I was driving it regularly, the car did exhibit smoke in the exhaust under heavy throttle. The brakes pull to one side, I have new brake components to come with the car (uninstalled). Dashboard lights & climate control need to be repaired. The vacuum locks are sticky. Transmission has a slow leak, the parts to fix it will come with the car (uninstalled). The ceiling in the back above the hatshelf needs to be rehung. Some sun damage to steering wheel & dashboard. The car is available to view for the duration of the listing; please use the "ask seller a question" tool to get in touch with me for more pictures, to ask a question or to set up a time to see the car. I have described the condition of the car to the best of my ability. Please understand that the car is sold as-is, where-is. There is no warranty expressed or implied. I am willing to help to arrange shipping or local pickup, but the car cannot be driven. I have set a reserve that I think is reasonable in comparison to what I have put into the car. At auction close, I ask a $100 deposit via paypal within 24 hours and the remainder of the payment to be completed within 3 days. If you are going to bid, please be willing to follow through with the transaction - don't waste my time. Thank you & good luck!
