Vehicle Detail
First of all, I apologize to any previous bidders on this relisted item. In an attempt to gain a salvage certificate at the local DMV, well - let's just say that the people I spoke with were very confused. I have since cleared up the confusion and am now relisting this item for sale. Please note: I currently retain the vehicle Pink Slip and will sign over that title, OR a Salvage Certificate. The purchaser of this vehicle explicitly assumes all responsibility to re-title the vehicle and go thru the inspection, smog, weight processes etc. if they wish to get the car back on the road. The vehicle is strictly sold AS-IS. I will continue to pursue a Salvage Certificate once notice of my retention from the insurance company settlement has made it into DMV records. That is the hold-up to receiving the certificate, however I'm assured by the DMV in Sacramento that I can transfer my ownership of a wrecked-vehicle either via Pink or the Salvage Cert. Having never sold a salvage-vehicle I wanted to ensure I'm doing everything by the book, and I have now satisfied myself that I'm following the correct process. I apologize for not doing that earlier. One more quick note and change from the original listing, any deposit received by me is to be considered non-refundable. So back to the original listing. I thank previous bidders, watchers and viewers for their patience and interest. - Doug ------------------------------------------- For Sale is our 1987 El Camino that has been in our family since 1990 when my dad bought it from the original owner. My son has been driving it the last couple of years, and the car has always been looked after well. Unfortunately an illegal left turn by another motorist has forced us to get rid of the vehicle. As you can see in the pics, the left front has sustained the brunt of the damage. The frame has been pushed over such that the steering box is up against the power steering pump, and the upper A-arm support has been tweaked. The car could be repaired with a sectioned frame, a radiator support and some readily-available aftermarket body parts, along with some sheetmetal work and a new windshield. The car still runs, however the trans cooling lines, charcoal canister etc. were knocked loose. Radiator still holds coolant and might be salvageable. Interior pieces are all original and intact. This car could be repaired and re-titled, or would make an awesome donor car. The engine is a 305 small block Chevy V8 with a 4 barrel Rochester Quadrajet. My dad installed an Edelbrock Performer intake years ago. It runs well, and burns very little oil. The trans is a 4-speed auto, a TH200 I believe. The rearend was gone thru a few years back with new bearings and is tight and doesn't leak. The air conditioning blows cold, or at least it used to. I'm not sure if the condenser was damaged. There's an aftermarket Clarion casette deck in the dash. A Gaylords hard tonneau sits on the bed. Edelbrock IAS shocks were added a few years back. The car rode and drove VERY well - quite a comfortable vehicle. I would prefer a local buyer, and I reserve the right to end the auction early since there is interest in the car locally. Car is sold AS-IS, buyer is responsible for removing vehicle from premises within 10 days of auction close. Please click the "Payment" tab above for further details on completing the transaction.
