Vehicle Detail
For sale is my 1996 BMW 318ic e36 convertible. It's a 5spd, 1.9L inline 4 engine, and has been one of the most mechanically reliable and fuel efficient cars I have ever owned. It has had it's fair share of BMW electrical quirks, and I'm sure there are more as to be expected from a 14 year old car. But the motor is great and so is the transmission. It's a fun car and it was originally bought as an extra vehicle for me to fix up and customize, but my daily driver died so this became my daily driver. I am selling as-is because we are expecting a third child and need to purchase something with third row seats. The car shifts beautifully, and when I bought it, came with 2 subs and and amp in the trunk and a sony head unit. I'm not an audiophile, but if the new owner wants this stuff, they're free of charge. The leather interior has a minor 3 1/2" crack on the right drivers seat, but other than that the seats look great! It has a manual top, no leaks, and top is in fairly good condition. It has the flappy dogears that plague e36 convertibles, but I just tuck those in. I bought the car at 155k, and at that time it had a new clutch, new radiator, new water pump, new head gasket, and alternator pulley belt. I have since replaced: spark plugs wires alternator valve cover gasket oil filter housing gasket new rear calipers headlights (has apexcones with 5000k HID) PVC valve battery It needs (and I have these parts for the new owner included free of charge, just don't have time to work on it anymore): LCABs RTABs Front lip (to hide crack in middle lower of the front bumper) fogs (I have the original one side, but the other did not come with the car and I did not like the missing fog light look so I took the other one out) "All-window" button (button does not work, but I have a new one from a 99 328ic) It also needs (parts which I do not have to offer): Windshield wiper fluid motor (25 bucks on ebay) front tires (which I'll probably replace in the near future anyway) Wheels (IMO) Lower ball joints (it's about due, 80 bucks) IAT sensor (25 bucks on ebay) Inspection (runs out 8/2010) It has e46 m3 replica rims, and these aren't the best IMO. They came with the car and were curbed when I got them, and I haven't bothered to change them because this was my daily driver for the past year. I always meant to mod it, but we had our second boy, and kids are not cheap! I would recommend looking at another set of wheels when shopping around. Parts for this car are fairly inexpensive if you are the DIY type. I also recharge the AC every summer, so it'll probably be due again next May. I would say it's in fair condition. It needs a bit of TLC, but is is ready to go and has been fun as he11 since the day I got it! I get about 420-425 miles/tank, and as a reliable, fun to drive, fuel-efficient, affordable, four-seat BMW convertible, I have been pretty happy with it. For someone who is not afraid to get their hands dirty, this car is a REALLY great deal considering the new parts already installed. Please contact me if you have any questions, and if you are in the area you are welcome to take a look! The vehicle does not have power seats. Also, one other thing is that the ABS and TCS (traction control) light come on intermittently. I was told it is because of dirty wheel sensors, because usually, on warm days AFTER it rains, the lights are off and the ABS and TCS work fine. Still daily driveable as I always drive it with TCS turned off anyway...it's much more fun!
