Vehicle Detail

Thanks for looking at this listing for my 1966 Chevy Panel Truck. It runs excellent, with no mechanical problems. I would trust it to drive anywhere. The clutch is tight, steering is well within above average parameters, for these year trucks. The engine has excellent compression, and runs very strong. Rare 3 speed on the column, shifts well. Runs quiet, no lifter noise and good exhaust. Mechanically sound. I bought this one a few months back, with the full intention of restoring her to original condition. I have restored several of these Panels and Suburbans. However, my living situation has changed, and I would like to get some of what I paid for her back. It has just been licensed in IN, good for a year, and currently insured. I know these trucks well, and all of their weak areas. This one is bone stock, with, (I was told by the previous owner), 43,000 original miles on it. I did a compression test of the motor, and it is running 130 PSI, even on all cylinders, with good leak down readings. It very well could be 42,000. At 65 MPH, take your foot off the accelerator, and the engine slows the truck very rapidly. Brakes are good, all lights and turn signals work. Not sure about the back up lights. Horn works, dash lights work, heater works.... The C-10 emblems and wipers are in the truck. The history on this truck, as I was able to ascertain: It was manufactured in Baltimore MD plant, and bought new by a county, in AL, and after about 10 years of local service, it went to their yard and sat. (You can still see where the"bubble gum" warning light on the roof, was). It was purchased by an elderly gentleman, from that county in AL, several years ago, who hardly drove the truck. It is dirty. I have done nothing to the truck since I purchased it, except drive it. I have used it to haul building materials, from Lowe's and Menard's, about 25 miles away. Three of these times, I had about 2,000 LBS of materials in the bed, and the truck did not even act like it had anything back there. It has the large 292 6 cylinder, and it is very powerful. The only bad things about this truck, is the rust, mainly centered in the inner rocker panels. Apparently, since this truck sat so much, it did not rust in the normal areas that these trucks do. There seems to be no rust in the lower fenders, or in the outer door skins. There is none of the usual rust through or blisters on the inner fenders, even by the header panel. (See pics) It has several small dents, with minor sheet metal tears, (shown in pics), but most have been straightened, and ready for minor filler. The rear door hinges are loose. There are a couple very tiny pin holes in the drivers side quarter, which, in my opinion, will not require replacement. Original license plate light is with the truck, and these are very hard to find. This is a great platform for restoration, or great to use it for work or to haul materials. You would not believe how many folks admire this truck. I get comments on it every where I take it. Oh yea, it eventually will need a windshield. It is not cracked or broken, but scratches from the old wiper blades have fogged it a bit, on the passenger side. I drive it like that, and no bothers. PAYMENT: I need immediate contact from the winning bidder, and I want a $300. down payment, within 3 days, from the winning bidder. Payment in full, before the truck leaves my driveway. QUESTIONS: Send me a message, and I will answer any question you may have. I will give you my phone number, if you would like to call. SHIPPING: I am willing to work with the winning bidder, and help, with-in reason, to get it safely to you. I am even willing to drive her to a local shipping hub, to defray shipping costs. On Aug-19-10 at 04:57:34 PDT, seller added the following information: Please note: Although I updated my address with e Bay, when I moved, this listing shows my old state. The vehicle is located about 25 miles South of Indianapolis, Indiana. If this is a problem for the current high bidder, please give me a call, and I will happily withdraw your bid, no questions. I sincerely apologize for the discrepancy. I did not notice this, until I was made aware by an interested party. I am working to have this fixed.
