Vehicle Detail
Dare to be different. Rare '61 New Yorker four door hardtop. Only 5862 were made in '61, who knows how many are left but I've never seen another one in the 10 years I've owned her. The sleek lines of this car draws more attention then any car I've ever owned or driven. Imagine the look on the guy's face that has spent $80,000 restoring his '69 Camaro when you park next to him at the next car show and you draw the bigger crowd of admirers. From the canted quad headlights to the sweeping fins that have more mass than a '59 Cadillac's famous fins this car is truely a head turner that won't be forgotten. In my opinion the four door hardtop is the best looking of the big fin Mopars, the roof is lower and sleeker than the sedan's and I think the two door hardtop with the long rear window makes the trunk look too big. Plus with 4 doors there's easy access for your buddies, dogs or kids. This has the 413 V8 with a four barrel, torque flight push button transmission and dual exhaust with glass packs for a nice vintage sound. Power steering, brakes, windows and front bench seat. Stock AM radio worked when I got the car but the power antenna is stuck in the down position so no reception. New fuel pump, tires, brakes have been completely redone including master and (6) wheel cylinders, drums and shoes. Brakes are still a little touchy but they do stop this beast, it just takes longer than what you're used to with modern disc brakes. This car runs and drives but has very limited use over the past few years so I would not recommend driving it cross country until you've gone through all systems carefully. Looks great from 20 feet but up close you'll see some minor dings and wear. Headliner is drooping, rear package shelf needs replacing, front passenger side power window does not work. There is some rust in the trunk floor and a little rust on the bottom of one of the doors. No dents and no missing parts. Some of the trim pieces are dinged as well as the hubcaps but everything is here and can be restored in the hands of someone who knows what they're doing. I'm sure I've forgotton some details so please ask questions. This car is sold as is and it is up to the buyer to arrange for shipping to her new home. $500 depoist required within 24 hours at the end of auction by paypal and the balance due in 7 days. Thanks for looking and good luck.
