Vehicle Detail
1978 R80 in original and excellent condition. I purchased it from an older gentleman in Gunnison, who got it new in 78. He gave me the magazine that he read (had an article on the bike), the next day he went to Denver bought the bike. Has just less than 25,000 miles on it and is totally original. The seat, paint, exhaust, motor, etc are all in amazing condition. I just put brand new tires on it (high-end Dunlop’s) and it comes with a host of extras. Brand new air and oil filter (spares). Bikini fairing (and all attachments), 2 original helmets (same color as the bike) and a BMW front visor helmet. Calf length BMW boots. Workshop manual. Spare synthetic (factory BMW) gear box and engine oil. Original tool kit (complete factory BMW), with original grease (BMW) rag. BMW hand pump. Trickle charger. Lead replacement additive. This is an amazing old bike and I'd love to keep it, but have had it now for 3 years and barely ridden it, needs to go before winter comes so I can get the car back in the garage. I have lots and lots of pictures, feel free to ask for them and or any questions. The cons:I just noticed that the speedo needle is being a bit erratic. A friend suggested that it could be the speedo cable (from being stored so long, an easy fix, I just don't have the time to do it. There is a tiny oil drip from the sump plug, obviously overtightened or the crush washer not being replaced last oil change.
