Vehicle Detail
Up on the auction block is a gorgeous 1983 Porsche 911SC Targa converted into a cabriolet with 964 and 993 upgrades. The car will need some work, but first lets have a detailed look at this beauty... Absolutely gorgeous! As you can see, this car has many upgrades. Check out the flawless 18" Turbo Twist wheels in chrome. They feature the gold crest center caps, matching chrome lug nuts, and tires in excellent condition with 80% tread life remaining. The car features 964 upgrades including bumpers, rocker panels, decklid, rear lights, dual exhaust and script. In this shot you can see how the quarters and decklid line up perfectly. This is an accident free car. This car also features the third brake light a top the decklid. The 964 grille is powered electronically by a switch in the center console. Beautiful rear quarters, absolutely without flaw. Wow, look at the gloss on this quality paint. Notice the perfect reflection of the bushes along the entire right side. Beautiful 993 headlights and mirrors. Perfect gaps, great bumper with sporty air scoops and split lips down below. Notice the silver/black color scheme througout. The clear marker lights and silver hood emblem keep it very consistent. Notice the 10 disc CD changer which works great. Also notice how the dome light under the bonnet actually works. How often do you see that on an '83 Porsche??? In this shot you can see the torn roof. It's simply old and tired and will need to be replaced. I will be happy to take care of this for an additional $1500 which will include the rear window as well as the flat bed towing to and from the upholstery shop. You can't tell from looking but the roof features power locks. No obtrusive plastic knobs here! There is a lot of information in this shot. Check out these perfect black leather seats. They are as fresh and firm as they look. There is a lot of attention to detail here like the "Carrera" stitching in the headrest area, the cadmium plated door striker, and the silver knob used to open the decklid. The boot cover is genuine Porsche and features the tiny silver plaque you can see in the right. Also notice how fresh the seals look around the windshield, along the top where the roof meets the frame, and along the door jamb. Here's an even better view of the driver's chair. Notice how consistent the color scheme is throughout the car. Clear marker lights, silver Porsche crest on the hood, and silver accents throughout the interior. This car actually features power windows as well as power locks on both doors. Lets have a look at those pricey door pockets... Perfect! Everything is Momo brand. Again, a very consistent scheme throughout. That switch down in the console is how you control the electronic decklid grille. Great stereo system with remote control and a 10 disc changer mounted in the trunk. The gauges were redone and they look fabulous. The upholstery is very tight. Notice how nicely the seams come together around the glove box, ashtray, seatbelt warning light and vents. The switches were all redone at the same time as the gauges. There are a couple of very minor hairline cracks in the dash under the pad. Now let's have a look at the original matching numbers 3.0 motor... Well, everything looks to be in perfect order, but actually, once you start it you can see white smoke from the tailpipes. The bad news is that this engine will need new rings. The good news is that it will only need rings. The valves sound good, pistons and barrels are good, there is no knocking, pinging or rattling, and it was driving nicely. It fires right up, idles smoothly, and you can hear it run for yourself. The rings themselves are not expensive and if you know how to remove and replace the heads and barrels then you can do this job yourself for a few hundred dollars. The car will have to be towed though because the clutch pedal is down on the floor. It's a very simple linkage and there aren't that many variables. I haven't had a chance to jack the car up and check it out for myself but basic logic says the clutch cable snapped and will need to be replaced. I already purchased the cable as seen above and it comes with the car. The shot below is a hard one to shoot because of where the car is parked and the direct lighting from above. But it is intended to show that this car was never in an accident, is 100% rust free, and comes with the original spare tire and tools. If you're an especially keen observer, you will notice the original gas tank with it's original undercoating, and more importantly, you will see the horn down by the battery as well as the alarm relays sitting a top the gas tank. The car features an excellent alarm system with a fully functional keyless entry system linked to the power door locks. And the items Porsche buyers love to see most of all... original leather bound tool kit, original owners manual and cover, complete service history, and a trophy from a local Porsche auto show where this car took first place in 2006. Early Bid Incentive: If the reserve price has been met 24 hours before auction close, a $500 bonus will be refunded via PayPal after the car has been picked up. --------------------------------- Terms of sale: The car is being sold in as-is condition with no warranty written, expressed or implied. A $1000 deposit via PayPal will be due immediately at auction close. If you placed your bid in advance and are not near a computer when the listing ends, then I will offer a 12 hour grace period for you to submit that deposit before moving on to the next highest bidders and leaving the appropriate feedback.
