Vehicle Detail
You are looking at an extremely solid 1955 Cadillac 75 Series Factory Black 8 Passenger Limousine that has resided in dry storage since the Ford Administration and is in need of a complete restoration. The Limousine was used by a funeral home in Oregon City until the early 1970’s. It was last registered in 1976 and was found in a shed by the fellow I purchased it from in the early 1980’s. The car was taken in the 1980’s to a Portland Restoration Facility that abruptly closed and the car was recovered by the owner (minus some parts). The previous owner bought the car back to his shop in pieces and stored it until I purchased the Cadillac in 1991 (I was a 19 year old crazy college student at the time). The Limo accumulated only 42,792 miles prior to being parked in the 1970’s. There’s a “Standard Oil” service sticker from Oregon City, Oregon that indicates 30,850 miles 1-16-1971 (the same day as my first birthday). I’ve had it in dry storage the 19 years and have never gotten started on the restoration. Due to time constraints, work, family and another classic under restoration I’ve decided to sell the dream. Body: Overall the body is in incredible condition for its age. The Cadillac is perfectly solid with the exception of some minor rust repair that will be needed in restoration. The carpets have never been removed but from poking around the floors are very nice and will need only minor fabrication other than the driver’s floor that will need replacement. The spare well has some pinholes but the trunk floor looks perfect. There’s also some rust in the bottom of the RF fender as a result of a leaking battery. There is surface rust on the exterior body shell but the metal is perfectly solid. We don’t use road salt here in Oregon so the car has survived with perfect original sills rocker panels. The doors are also quite perfect with the exception of surface rust on the bottoms but look solid. The car has had a complete exterior repaint pre-1976 but doesn’t appear to have ever had any collision repair or damage. The color is original and the car wears original paint in the doorjambs, engine compartment and trunk. The front fenders and front bumper were removed when the engine was taken out of the car. I reinstalled them with a few bolts for transport in 1991. The rear exhaust bumper tips have rust damage. Overall, the car is very solid and a fantastic basis for a perfect restoration. Frame: No damage and perfectly solid. Engine and Transmission: The engine is the factory number matching block and didn’t run when the Cadillac was purchased in the early 1980’s. The engine was disassembled by the restoration shop that started the work and subsequently closed. The previous owner recovered the engine from a machine shop after the shop closed. There are 3 NOS pistons, and new crank kit with bearings and multiple duplicate parts. There are two transmissions, one appears to have been rebuilt but I have no knowledge of when or the quality of the work. Both have 1955 dates on the tags so I’m not sure which one came out of the car. It appears to be very complete mechanically with the exception of a couple of missing connecting rods. I’ve never done an inventory and what you see in pictures is what is included. The car has what looks to be a complete factory air conditioning system.Tires and Wheels: I dismounted the old tires back in the 1990’s and had the 4 road wheels sandblasted and power-coated (one wheel was bad and discarded). I purchased Gum Dipped Firestones and had them mounted on the powder-coated wheels. The car was stored on jack stands so the tires are virtually perfect other than some minor cracking from age. I believe the spare tire is the factory original from 1955. The car rolls and all the tires hold air.Interior: The seat springs for the front seats, rear upper and jump seats were never recovered when the shop closed. All the lower door panels are missing in addition to the armrests. The upholstered portion of the front seat (pictured) you see from the back is missing. The ignition switch is also missing. Misc: I have a clear Oregon title for the car. I’ve transferred the license plate to another classic car so it does not come with the Cadillac. I’m selling the car NO RESERVE and the high bidder will own it. I can be contacted at 503-310-6171(Cameron) with any questions you may have. Seller will assist in loading parts and have tractor to lift the pallets at the storage site. I have over 100 photos available if there's something you would like to see that's not pictured. Deposit in the amount of $200 due within 48 hours of sale, wire transfer for the balance due within 7 days. Vehicle to be moved within 30 days. Thanks for looking.
