Vehicle Detail

The Overview: This 1977 Corvette T-Top has 94550 original miles, needs complete restoration. Everything is original. 350ci engine, 3 speed auto trans, power windows, power steering, tilt/telescoping wheel, power brakes, AM/FM Stereo, AC, cruise. Body has damage in three spots and is missing kick plate, all on the passenger side. Paint is in poor shape on top. Drivers side door has not opened in 6 months, can unlock but not open. Original Options / Option Price / Current Condition: A31 – Power Windows / $116 / Functional but not perfect, driver side needs help at top and bottom. B32 – Colored Floor Mats / $22 / Drivers is worn out. C60 – Air Conditioning / $553 / WORKS! Does not get very cold but definitely works. D45 – Sport Mirrors / $35 / Passenger broken, driver remote adjustment lever in housing. K30 – Speed Control / $88 / Does not work, did until a year ago. M40 – Auto transmission / $0 / Seems to work very well, confident shifting. N37 – Tilt-Telescoping Wheel / $165 / Works well. U58 – AM/FM Stereo Radio / $281 / Driver speaker only, it's functional but not completely. V54 – Luggage and T-Top rack / $73 / T-Top brackets gone, chrome is 33 years old. Exterior Color Code 26 (Corvette Light Blue), 5,967 models made in this color. Interior Color Code 112 (White Leather) What works: Exterior lights (all function), power steering, AC, wipers (including wash), speedometer, tach, power windows, original factory radio (drivers speaker only), voltmeter, oil pressure gauge, gas gauge (offset half tank). What does not work: Driver door, remote mirror adjustment (driver), cruise (stopped working a year ago), dome light, clock, temp gauge, passenger seat belt. What it needs: In my opinion a complete frame off restoration. All the parts are there but most are the original parts. The bushings, trim, vacuum hoses, wires are all 33 years old. What it offers: Aside from the driver door and the bad paint this car can be a daily driver right now. It's mostly functional, almost completely original (not the alternator) and she still has lots of character and power. For the right person this could be a great american classic. What comes with it: Spare chrome wheel caps and rings, original maintenance manual, original leather T-Top covers, and a set of Goodyear Eagle GT II tires that have only a few thousand miles on them. The History: I am the third owner, my father was the second. This car was his baby for more than 17 years. I’ve had the car for the past 8. It was in Kansas until it became mine. This was my father’s daily car for nearly 10 years. After that he would drive it about once a month. During those less used years it spent a lot of time outside under a custom cover that trapped heat and moisture and over time damaged the paint and finish. When I took ownership it was given a once over prior to making the 900 mile trip and was given a clean bill of health. Two and half hours into our 14 hour journey the right front tire threw its tread. It ripped through the fiber glass body in front of and behind the wheel and twisted up the metal kick plate between the two wheels. There is also some body damage behind the rear wheel. The only mechanical casualty was radiator overflow tank which was immediately replaced with an oem replacement. After a tow to a truck stop and their 24 hour garage, she got a new set of undersized tires and we resumed our 14 hour drive 10 hours after it started. While driving through St. Louis the undersized tires and some really rough construction caused the exhaust to scrape the road hard and often. By the time we made Illinois the car didn’t sound the same because the exhaust lines and mufflers had holes in them. With additional stops we managed to get all the way home to Georgia in 24 grueling hours that are now legend in my family. As you can imagine, the relationship between my fiancee, who also made the trip, and the Vette got off to a rocky start and it has never recovered. Spending money when we got home on another set of correctly sized tires didn’t help much. Since then (8 years later) we got married and now have 5 (yes FIVE) wonderful children. The Corvette is mostly unchanged from when it arrived 8 summers ago. This was my fathers baby but my first love is my first ride, a 55 Chevy Truck, and I haven't gotten around to it yet. I've realized that I will likely never get to the Vette while it's still worth restoring. Video footage shot on 7/10/2010. I did choose to use the E-Bay option of asking for an initial payment of $400 within 3 days, and to have fullpayment within 10 days, of the auction close. If, not she gets re-posted. The winner is responsible for vehicle transport. I do not recommend driving her away, the last time I moved her the brakes engaged close to the floor. The title is owned free and clear by the seller and will be turned over to the winning bidder when the car is paid in full and picked up by the winner. The car can not be picked up without confirmation of full payment. Once ownership has changed hands the sale is final. This car is being sold as it is at the time of pick up.
