Vehicle Detail
1998 BMW R1200C This BMW R1200C was bought new by me in 1997 when they first became available. I've had it the entire time, aside from a year when it went to live in Ohio. Over the last five years, this was my dad's bike, but his knees aren't what they used to be and I've had to get him something lighter. PHOTOS: Please see the complete photo gallery on Flickr depicting this motorcycle in every angle and close-up, including all imperfections and blemishes by clicking the link below: PHOTOS PHOTOS PHOTOS Accessories The bike comes with the following options and accessories: Touring windshield BMW Engine Guards (these double as highway pegs) Anti-Lock brakes Locking hard side cases and mounting brackets Suburban Machinery Heel-Toe Shifter BMW Accessory Socket Cosmetic Condition This bike has been garage kept, and looks very good for its age. It's impeccably clean, and overall I would give it a 7/10. It does have the following cosmetic defects, all of which are pictured in the Flickr link above: Chrome pitting on wheels. This is a ubiquitous problem for this model, as the wheels are made of chromed aluminum. I do have a brand-new rear wheel which I will give to the high bidder for an extra $100 Minor scratches to the right blinker, right mirror, and right engine guard from a driveway tipover The chrome left side cover fell off while riding the bike. It has some scratches and a ding. Some surface rust, mainly to fastener heads on the right side of the bike (valve covers) and the chromed surface of the rear shock piston. Some scuffs to the right side saddle bag A single scratch to the top of the tank which has been scratch fixed There is no rear seat installed, but one can easily be fitted. Mechanical Condition The bike has no mechanical issues. The tires are new, the AGM battery is two years old, it has been ridden regularly on mostly short trips around town. Occasionally when it is cold, the ABS will not initialize correctly until the bike has warmed up; this is a common issue with early BMW ABS-II systems as the voltage required for the starter on a cold motor prevents the ABS computer from initializing. The ABS works flawlessly even in such cases if the bike is allowed to warm up before riding. I have bought and sold numerous motorcycles over the years on eBay. I believe in full disclosure and my record speaks for itself. This bike has been in my family since new. Happy bidding!
