Vehicle Detail

1966 VW DUNE BUGGY 1915CC (94mm) ENGINE - CHROME BLUE EXTERIOR ENGINE: Complete rebuild. LOTS OF CHROME! 1915cc Big Bore Kit with brand new cylinders and pistons. 40mm EMPI KADRON DUAL CARBUETOR ($500). Block was professionally line bored. Cylinder heads fly cut to fit the new jugs, fitted with new valves and valve guides. New bearings throughout engine. Stage 2 scat performance cam. 12 Volt system. Brand new mega duals exhaust system. This buggy is very fast, extremely responsive. We picked this engine because it is the largest engine that is not known to get too hot. It is a very durable engine and was built right, by professionals. There is well over $2500 in this engine alone. Likely around 120hp. TRANSMISSION: Shifts very smoothly, all four gears and reverse work great. No grinding, no play. Short shift kit installed, nice tight shift pattern. As you can see in the pictures the transmission was power washed and sprayed black. Looks sharp! FRAME: The frame was taken from a 1966 Volkswagen Beetle. The frame was measured to specifications and 14.25 inches were cut from it and professionally welded back together with reinforcement. The entire pan and frame was sanded and painted with a rust proofing called por 15. It was then painted with a wrinkle finish paint to given it a nice texture. A brand new front end was installed. Brand new sway bar. EXTERIOR: New fuel filler cap (very unique). Body is a sand flea which is modeled from the Meyers Manx classic body. Only flaw is on the nose, crack was repaired prior to paint but is now showing through again. The body was prepped and professionally painted with a blue paint with some metallic in it. Windshield frame was prepped and painted, attached with new hardware. New wipers. Roll bar was prepped and painted. Attached with new hardware. INTERIOR: New high back seats and padded covers. Dash covered in a carbon fiber tape (looks great). Brand new steering wheel. Horn. Rear view mirror. New piece of diamond plate professionally cut to fit the back shelf perfectly. Hole cut for battery (which is new). Seat belts installed. MECHANICAL: All new lights/lenses, headlights with nice chrome buckets (no rust), brand new speedometer with fuel guage and other gauges. New master cylinder, front shocks, rear shocks, tie rods, starter, brake and clutch cable, all new brakes including hoses, pads, rear axle seals. Tires are 50%. Wheels were painted about 4 years ago with a silver paint. Some rust coming through. Still look good though. This is not a backyard build. This was built by professionals who are very familiar with Volkswagens. This buggy is versatile, can get wet and be dry in a few minutes unlike many of the other buggys you see with padded seats or other interior. Always stored indoors. Inspected and street legal. As you can tell from above, there have been many hours spent on this buggy, no expense spared. It has been completely rebuilt with many new parts. Please call Josh at 570-592-4092 with questions. Buggy may be seen in Dallas, PA 18612.
