Vehicle Detail
This is a very clean, very nice 1994 Mercury Capri convertible with low miles (42,800). Just 1232 of these were imported into the US from Ford Australia, and this 1994 version was the nicest of the series. This car was garaged until about five years ago, so in general it's in great shape--especially the rag top and interior. One of the nicest features of this model is the compartment that the top folds into--it disappears under a lid with no soft cover ever needed! That same compartment forms a pass-through when the rear seat is folded down so that long items can fit in the car. Overall it's a very roomy vehicle for a convertible, with a practical trunk. Mileage is good, in the 26 MPG range typically and it has cruise control. Features 4-wheel disc brakes and 4-wheel Macpherson struts. Retractable headlamps work great. There are both driver and passenger air bags. I replaced the factory radio with a Blaupunkt unit with a CD player, but the original factory radio is included. That's the only thing I can think of that isn't original on the car, except for the obvious tires, brakes, plugs, etc. This is a car that I think will have a lot of good miles left in it--great for a commuter and/or as a fun convertible! POSSIBLE BONUS!!! I also have a white hardtop for this car. It's not pictured because I'm only going to let it go with the car if the price goes over $4400. It's in good shape outside, but the liner inside is falling down a little in the back. Again, the hard top goes with the vehicle only if the final price goes over $4400! Otherwise I'll make a separate deal for it or list it here on eBay. I do have several accessories that sell with the car, including: Ford Service Manual Ford Electrical & Vacuum Manual Original factory radio (replaced with a Blaupunkt radio/CD player) Original wheel caps (some have broken tabs and I was afraid of losing one, so I removed them all) Car cover (not original or custom-fit) Bra (not original, but fits well) There are only a few issues with this car. Cosmetically it's in overall great shape with just a few small dings here and there and some scratches on the front bumper where the bra was attached. There is no rust and there are no leaks. The tires have good tread left but are beginning to dry-rot due to age. And there is a bearing squeal in what I believe is the AC Compressor clutch. The air conditioning works great, but the squeal is so bad that I actually put a different belt on the engine to remove the AC from the loop (the larger belt is included). I can't guarantee that the squeal is the AC clutch, but I'm pretty sure that's all it is. Unfortunately, to get to the clutch the compressor has to be disconnected, so I have left this for the new owner to deal with. This car is located in Nashville, Tennessee. You may have heard of some floods in Nashville a couple of months ago; rest assured that this car was nowhere near any flood waters. The buyer will have to make arrangements to pickup the vehicle, which is of course in good driving condition. Bid to buy!
