Vehicle Detail
'86 BMW R80/1000cc MONOSHOCK AIRHEAD — LOW MILES AND SUPER FINE! Up for auction is my 1986 BMW R80 Monoshock airhead twin with 1000cc jugs. It is as close to perfect as any you'll find short of a 100 pt restoration! I have included 18 pictures below, some with captions, to show you just how nice it is (give the photos time to load—it's worth the wait). If this model is the most coveted BMW airhead twins, it is certain up near the top, and this is one of the nicest, cleanest, and low mileage examples you will find. This bike has ONLY 28,730 miles on the clock (see odometer in picture below). In BMW terms, that's just barely worn in! It's an R80, but it has been upgraded with BMW 1000cc pistons and cylinders installed for more power and torque. It has been babied and cared for, and EVERYTHING WORKS. It has never been down or been involved in an accident—never even fallen off its side stand! It has a California pink slip and is currently on non-op registration, though it has been continually registered and regularly ridden up until spring of 2010. This 1986 BMW R80 Monoshock airhead twin has the follow extras: 1000cc BMW pistons and cylinders K&N air filter BMW heated grips Double front disk brakes (was an option for the R80) New front brake pads Braided steel disk brake lines Nearly new Dunlop Elite II tires Panasonic gel cell high capacity maintanence-free battery Luftmeister oil temperature gauge and dip stick BMW dash mounted accessory electrical outlet Car-type under seat 12 volt electrical outlet Original BMW owner's manual Original FULL BMW tool kit ALL the paperwork you'll need to get it registered! Motor starts right up, runs great and shifts fine. There is nothing wrong with the motor, gearbox, or running gear that I know of. Tank and all painted surfaces are shiny and nice, as you can see, and with the exception of one scratch (not even through the paint surface—see if you can find it in the picture below), absolutely dent-free! There is a blemish on the rear seat under the grab rail, but it is not a tear and almost unnoticeable (see picture below). All you have to do on this motorcycle is register it, put fresh gas in it, and ride it off into the sunset! LEFT SIDE RIGHT SIDE LEFT FRONT RIGHT FRONT AND STEEL BRAIDED BRAKE LINES FRONT CLEAR & WORKING GAUGES, ODOMETER SHOWING 28,730 MILES, DASH WITH HEATED GRIPS TWO-SETTING SWITCH AND BMW ELECTRICAL OUTLET LEFT SIDE ENGINE, 1000cc JUGS, AND LUFTMEISTER OIL TEMPERATURE GAUGE RIGHT REAR SIDE LEFT REAR SIDE WITH CAR-TYPE 12 VOLT ELECTRICAL OUTLET REAR TAIL AND LIGHT WITH SHORTENED TURN SIGNAL STALKS UNDER SEAT AREA WITH ORIGINAL OWNER'S MANUAL AND BMW TOOL KIT (under manual) FRONT WHEEL WITH DOUBLE DISK BRAKE OPTION AND STEEL BRAIDED BRAKE LINES REAR DUNLOP ELITE II TIRE, ALMOST NEW FRONT DUNLOP ELITE II TIRE, ALMOST NEW Best picture I could get of the ONLY scratch on the gas tank (CAN YOU SEE IT?) Best picture I could get of the ONLY blemish (NO TEARS) on the seat I WILL NOT ARRANGE SHIPPING FOR THIS MOTORCYCLE—PLEASE DON'T ASK ME. HOWEVER, IF YOU MAKE PRIVATE ARRANGEMENTS WITH A SHIPPING COMPANY TO COME TO MY DOOR, I WILL SUPERVISE AND MAKE SURE IT GETS LOADED SAFELY AND ON ITS WAY.
