Vehicle Detail
It's time for me to sell this thing. Like most people, I don't want to sell something I put so much time into. But 3 other bikes and a 60 year old car need my attention and money. Among other things. This bike will be out in an upcoming issue of DicE. I was waiting for the mag release to sell it, but something came up. This bike is titled as a 1969 and is registered as such. The engine is a '72 though. So it's a 5-speed 650. The previous owner built it ugly, but took care of it. The engine was fully rebuilt and cases polished. It was at the standard bore, but was borderline, so now it's .20 over. You can see my full build thread on the Jockey Journal. http://www.jockeyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=66675 The head was fully rebuilt with oversized intake valves. Intake ports on the head were ported and matched to the intake manifolds which were ported to match the carb opening. (2) Brand new Amal 930 carbs and Electronic ignition have this thing running mint (all new electronics). I also used a singe, dual lead coil for keeping things simple. The bike is basically as new as you can make it through replacing everything. And it runs like a new bike would. Starting on the first kick is standard for my bikes. Paughco Springer Paint by Chicago Chris. Very detailed work and the clear is thick as hell. It feels like butter as you run your hand over it.I converted the rocker boxes to 1969 style. They fit on this early 70's head and look better than the 70's style. The stock rocker boxes are included if you want.New Avon tires front and rear.Bates style seat. Biltwell seat bracket.Rear wheel has brand new bearings, brake hub, brake pads, and sprocket. It's a 19" wheel from a preunit so it motors pretty decent on the freeway.Front drum is of off a Jap bike and has new bearings. I had a NOS Wassell tank for this build. There is ZERO rust in the gas tank.I also used a new Wassell rear fender.New wiring.New Chain.New Clutch. All new oil, fuel lines, and cables.New pipes solidly mounted with P-clamps to the frame.Kicker cover has the fin cut off and polished like the other case covers.Oil tank is from a 1952 rigid Triumph. I made a custom fill cap from a Ford Model A thermostat.Since the pictures were taken i have since removed the battery and am running a capacitor. It runs fine without the battery and looks cleaner. It just has to be started with the head light off.Oil pressure gauge. So you can see the pressure reading as you ride. Custom finned motor mounts. This particular style is very limited production.I made the Ignition switch plate made from a Triumph rocker box inspection cover. It's something I haven't seen done before. The bike responds great to the throttle and can motor pretty hard. It can definitely keep up with your EVO buddies. The engine is still new and barely broken in. It has less than 1000 miles for sure. It went through the meticulous heat and re-torque procedure. You will not be disappointed. If you arrange shipping, I'll ship worldwide and deliver to a local shipping hub. EMAIL ME FOR BIGGER PICTURES. On Jul-03-10 at 19:34:33 PDT, seller added the following information: Thanks for all the interest in the bike. I am attaching a video that shows the quality of the engine and tuning work. The starts on the first kick after not being ridden for a few days... On Jul-05-10 at 18:27:10 PDT, seller added the following information: Since it's been asked multiple times.... The bike is titled, currently registered to me and it's a CA pink slip. There are zero issues with this bike's paperwork.
