Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 1974 Plymouth Barracuda, 340, 4-speed, Tor-red with black interior. I purchased the car in 2006 and it was originally a 318, auto, PS, PB, blue exterior with a blue interior car. Car came with ralleye dash. Car was very solid with only around 74,000 miles on the odometer. Car was stripped down to the bare chassis and media blasted to bare metal. All minor rust spots were addressed and frame connectors were welded into place. Side markers and fender mounted turn signal indicators were removed for a cleaner look. Entire chassis was painted Tor-red. All parts were inspected, cleaned, painted, or replaced. Re-chromed 1970 bumpers were installed. Motor was built by Jack Machula of Jax Specialty Engines. It’s a 1969 340 block and heads. Motor was dynoed at G&S Dyno in Wisconsin and produced 454 horsepower at 6,600 rpm with 410 ft. lbs. torque at 5,400 rpm. It runs through a 23 spline Mopar 4-speed from Passon Performance to a 8¾ Truetrac limited slip differential with 3:07 gears. The tall final gears lets you cruise at 70 mph without running a high rpm. Remember, this motor produces over 450 hp, so it has plenty of get up and go with a great flat torque curve, but it’s also great on the freeway. A nice compromise. Motor runs through a complete 3” TTI exhaust system with ceramic coated headers and 3” pipes to Y-pipe and Flowmaster mufflers. Incredible sound! Motor runs cool in the hot summer days of Minnesota. Car now features manual brakes and manual steering which were my preference. All new ball joints, bushings, brake pads, brake shoes and all rubber seals. New alternator, water pump, fuel pump and starter. Car converted to a 4-speed using all parts from Brewer’s Performance. New radiator was installed along with all new hoses and fuel lines. Wheels are new 1970 style Specialty Ralleye wheels with 7” in the front and 8” in the rear. Tires are 225-60/15 front and 245-60/15 rear BFG Radial T/A’s. A new dual speaker dash was installed along with a complete Legendary interior, new headliner and new insulated carpet. Aftermarket stereo slipped right in with no modification to the dash, so a stock radio would still fit. Amp is mounted under the passenger seat and there are speakers in the dash and back shelf. Ipod connecter is in the glove box. Stock spare tire in the truck with jack and new trunk mat. All gauges work and the tachometer was recalibrated for this application. The clock runs intermittently, but most of the time. All lights work. I had a transmission seal leak so you will some staining under the exhaust pipes. The transmission was fixed and a new clutch was installed. There are no leaks under this car! This was a two-year project that I really enjoyed doing. It’s a strong running car that has a heavy lope sound at idle and the most incredible small block roar at full throttle. Drives straight down the road. The car can run on a good 92 octane gas, but I suggest a slight mix of race fuel or octane booster. As you can see from the pictures, the car looks like new. It looks even better in person. No disappoints. Car comes with original build sheet, 1974 Chrysler Chassis Service Manual and Body Service Manual, car cover, and all receipts. If you have questions, please feel free to email me at mat451@yahoo.com or call my cell at 320-223-5457 CST. I have a lot of time, money and sweat in this car, but I’m moving out of state and will be looking for another project down the road. Bid with confidence and good luck. Winning bidder is responsible for all shipping costs, but I will help on my end. I would suggest Parkway Auto Transport out of Clearwater, MN as one shipping option. http://www.parkwayautotransport.com/ They have open and enclosed transport and are reasonable. I’ve used them before and was happy with their service. Thanks for looking.
