Vehicle Detail

I picked up this car when I was stationed in Tucson Arizona. Its a 1970 Mercury Cougar XR-7, 351 Cleveland and was gold with a white vinyl top. There was a small spot of rust on the left drivers door and the right rear quarter. I've cut out both and replaced with new metal. Other than that the body is solid. I installed a new black vinyl top and have primed and painted it 1970 Mercury metallic blue. The interior is whats remaining. The dash is in good shape. I replaced it because the old one was cracked. Carpet is new. Just needs new upholstery on the seats and side panels. As for the drive train, I've rebuilt the engine. The motor is a 475 hp (est) 351 Cleveland. 4 barrel 650 Holley, Holley Strip Dominator intake, 4 barrel closed chamber heads. The heads have been ported and polished and flow as follows: Intake 335 cfm @.650 and exhaust is 225 cfm @ .650. The cam is a solid lift Crane F-286. Studs and Crane roller rockers finish off the heads. The engine is .020 over with flat top Keith Black pistons and molly rings. Bottom end is held in with ARP bolts on both the crank and rods. The engine runs just fine on 93 octane pump gas. This car has more than enough power to make the ride exciting. Aluminum radiator, flex fan, new Optima 1000 CCA battery, Mallery Ignition box and distributor and 9 qt Milidon oil pan and pick up. Transmission is an FMX, stock with a 3200 stall converter. Rear end is a 4.11 posi Ford 9" and I have another set of 3.50 gears to go with it. Kelly charger tires, a spare set of 29" Hoosier slicks come the car also. Exhaust is Headman headers, X-Pipe 2.5 inch pipes with caps to open up when at the track. Tailights work (sequencially) and headlight covers are operational. New upper control arms, lower arm (one side), frame connectors and brakes (front and rear). This car is not 100% ready for the road. Items still needed are as follows: Interior seats, side panels and rear seat upholstery Steering wheel and turn signal switch in steering column Window felts Headliner Front quarter side marker lights exhaust mufflers and tailpipes. Tach adapter for Mallory ignition box Fuel quantity gauge is spotty, may need a new float in the tank. This car is about 85% done. The paint job is in good shape, just needs a touch up in 2 areas. The front quarter extension needs touched up and the lower front valance is still primer gray.
