COMPRESSOR THERE BUT NEEDS RECHARGE OF FREON FROM WIKIPEDIA: 911SC (1978–1983) In 1978, Porsche introduced the new version of the 911, called the "911SC". It featured a 3.0 liter engine with Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection and a 5 speed 915 transmission. Porsche broke away from using magnesium crankcases like in the late 2.0, 2.2, 2.4, and 2.7 liter engines. This was the start of what are considered by collectors to be the most reliable 911s. In 1981, a Cabriolet concept car was introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Not only was the car a true convertible, but it also featured four-wheel drive, although this was dropped in the production version. The first 911 Cabriolet debuted in late 1982, as a 1983 model. This was Porsche’s first cabriolet since the 356 of the mid-1960s. It proved very popular with 4,214 sold in its introductory year, despite its premium price relative to the open-top targa.[9] Cabriolet versions of the 911 have been offered ever since. They made a big improvement On Jul-11-10 at 22:02:52 PDT, seller added the following information: These are some answers to good questions from another bidder that I thought might help others: First off let me start by saying I'm not a mechanic. I did locate the master cylinder in the front trunk and there does not appear to be any leaks. The clutch has been replaced with a higher performance model. Exactly which one I can't be sure, because I purchased the car from a dealer and they didn't have specific details. My mechanic has confirmed that it is a upgraded clutch and is operating perfectly. The working part of the action is very near the top and very short for a very sporty and quick shift. The fabric top has also been replaced sometime shortly before I purchased the car and is in great condition and does not leak, but if your familiar with the cabriolets you know that the seal between top and door glass is not very tight. If the car sits or is driven in the rain there is sometimes a few drips that get thru. I have always had another car to choose from and this has always been a sunny day driver. There is no rust on the exterior of the car, but i'm sure if you looked underneath you would find minor surface rust consistent with a car of this age. Nothing major that would cause any problems. The head studs have been upgraded and are in good shape. No word on the valve guides because i've never been that far into the engine. No pop-off valve; something i've meant to do and it's very simple and cheap. The syncros are all good and the car shifts perfectly and never pops out. No know mechanical issues other than the previously mentioned AC. I wouldn't hesitate to drive this car anywhere or let anyone drive it at anytime. Engine #64D4717
