Vehicle Detail
I purchased this truck from the dealer's show room in Lewiston, Idaho in December 1978. I have owned this truck ever since! It has 74,456 miles on the speedo. Yes, that is 74K not 174K!I was working in Saudi Arabia when I came home for Christmas. I bought the truck and then returned to Saudi. So, the truck went into storage. After nine years in Saudi, I went to Israel for a job, then to Indonesia. That is the reason for the low mileage. Returned to the US and drove the truck from Idaho to Texas, were it has been ever since.
In any case, on to the condition.....ENGINE... 460 cubic inch with less than 500 miles since rebuild. Forged piston, chrome-moly rings, balanced, re-built heads, alum intake, Eldebrock carb, Mallory ignition, fender well exit headers, 4 core radiator, dual battery mounts, A/C, 4 speed trans, and more & more. Runs excellent.
Interior... Custom bucket seat assembly with console, new carpet, rear sliding window, rear side jump seats, Custom under dash gauges, inside hood lock/release, FM/CD Radio (still have factory AM/FM which came from factory)CB, & more....
Exterior..... New front bumper, NOS Grill Surround, (like) NOS Grill (took original grill out when truck had 10 miles on it and install tube grill, then 30 years later re-install original grill) NOS turn signal lens, mew tires, Late Ford Trucktail gate panel, rear tube bumper, mag wheels, dual fuel tanks, & more........
1979 was the last year for the "BIG" Frame for Ford. In 1980 they went to a much light frame and much less desirable. This truck, being a 1 Ton 4X4 Super Cab is very desirable.
This truck is NOT a perfect Show Truck, but could be with very little work!
Now, to pick the truck, to give you a better idea of what you are looking at.......While the exterior looks good, it is not perfect. It is rust free(less some surface) It does have rock chips, The bed is dented from hauling firewood from the woods in Idaho. The hood was re-painted, due to paint peeling. The body is a 6 or 7 on a scale of 1-10, mostly because of the bed! Still has the original u-joints and they "clank" from time to time. Engine is dirty as truck has not been driven since 2008..... Thanks
