1965 Mustang Hardtop Almost Like New, Original and Unrestored! 1965 Ford Mustang Coupe, C code, Warranty # 5R07C220502, 76K actual documented miles. Built in San Jose, Ca. and shipped to Sound Ford in Seattle, Washington on May 11th of 1965. This is an obviously pampered car since new. Owned by non-smokers, always garaged and stored for the last 30 years, but driven about once a month to keep it mechanically sound. We are the 4th owner and have history of the other three. This car has spent its entire life in the Seattle area. It is 99.9% original and absolutely rust free. The 2-tone Pony interior is pristine and the original 45 year old Twilight Turquoise paint is beautiful with just a few dings. We have the original can of Ford touch up paint that is still good and is a near perfect match. The spare tire is original and has never left the trunk. It still shows the painted stripes on the tread and blue/green preservative on the white wall. The factory paper located behind the rear license plate is present; it tells the dealer to remove the hold downs from under the bumper. ORIGINAL FACTORY OPTIONS INCLUDE: 289 V-8 200hp, 3-Speed Automatic, Power Steering, Emergency Lights, Back up Lights, Deluxe steering Wheel, AM radio, License Plate frames, Deluxe 2 Tone White and Aqua Pony Interior, Deluxe front seat belts, Chrome Rocker Panels. New parts include rear Monroe Air shocks, Front Monroe shocks, 245/15 rear tires, 215/15 front tires, polished aluminum wheels. 5K miles on new radiator, heater core, transmission seals, and brakes. We replaced the front seat upholstery but kept the originals, (the original passenger side is perfect, and the original driver’s side upholstery seam has a small split which is quite repairable, but we decided to replace them.) We have the original floor mats that are in excellent condition as well as factory touch up paint. Currently the temp gauge is inoperative and the emergency brake doesn’t ratchet but is operative. In the spirit of keeping the car original we haven’t replaced the windshield either, it has a 6” crack in the corner but still has the original factory glass – we’re looking for new old-stock glass but haven’t found any yet so the windshield remains in place for now. This is a solid driving car with NO rattles or squeaks anywhere; amazingly it still drives and looks like new. It was backed into at a grocery store parking lot when it was a week old and repaired by Sound Ford back in the spring of 1965. It’s not a great repair by today’s standards, but reflects the body work standards of the 60’s and hasn’t been re-repaired since. It gives the car that 45+ year old patina and I hesitate to change it. Nothing in this car has been rebuilt, it’s 99.9% original as it came from the factory in 1965, no hidden surprises here. The 45 year old paint shines like new with no fading, the interior is pristine and all rubber seals are perfect, windows roll up and down smooth and easy. Doors, hood and trunk lid close with a solid click. We get comments every time it’s taken out of the garage and have attended many local car shows. Original cars in this condition are getting quite rare and paying to have a lesser car restored up to this level would cost many times the asking price of this original. People can’t believe they are looking at 45 year old paint and interior. Stunning when you think of its age. Drives perfectly so you can fly in and drive this one home.
