Vehicle Detail
Here is my personal TR-6 for sale. It is a superb example in the rare and original Magenta color with black interior, and the desireable factory hardtop, all factory original tonneau and boot covers including the boot cover for convertible use or with hardtop fitted. All factory original and very hard to find. As a long time ebayer with great feedback, I urge you to read on and see why my car sales feedback is so strong, and why I want you to buy the best TR-6 you can, even if you do not buy this one, which is a truly wonderful car. The Triumph TR-6 ws probably Triumphs masterpiece and I love these cars. Thats why I am, and have been for more than a decade, ebays's "BobbyTriumph". My TR-6s have been labors of love, having worked for the dealer when they were new. I have had TR-6s and TR-250;s and one of my restorations (a 1974 BRG car) is featured in, and on the back cover, of Bill Piggott's book ,"Original TR4,5,&6" by Bayview books. OK this car is a 1973 which I think and others agree is the very best year for the TR-6. Interior upgrades, lack of significant smog rubbish, and the nicest original chrome bumper styling with the best of the mechanical improvements, make these fabulous, reliable drivers cars, and dead simple to maintain, but only if you get a good one. If you want to buy a TR-6 theres lots available but look closely. Check the details. Are the tonneaus and original accessories included and in good shape? Tonneaus , boot covers, handbooks and tools can all add up to hundreds of dollars. All are correct, included and perfect condition here. Are the tires correct? These cars came with 185x15 tires, now made only by Universal (as fitted here) Coker, Vredestein, and a few other high dollar makers. The cars neither look or drive right on other sizes. Look out for old rusty derelects that have been "freshened up" with paint and upholstery only to find a poorly done color change, hidden rust or accident damage, or important features like door lamp switches or door stops painted over or disabled. This wonderful car has had a good life, and at 85,ooo miles the engne , gearbox, and clutch were all gone through. At 90,000 the dash was refinished and the top and crash pads replaced. In the last year the car had one repaint to the original color and to a very high standard, including the hardtop. The windshield and door rubber on the car was all removed and replaced after the repaint. Look at the pictures, the details are fabulous. The door stops were replaced with new rubber; door lamp switches replaces and all work; the dash glove box light even works; and during the repaint the lamp units had all damaged lenses replaced and new license lamps while the correct satin finish black rear panel was painted per factory specifications, not botched or left matching the car. If you look at the pictures (more of any detail on request) you will see the car has not been hit in the rear (or anywhere else). The trunk is excellent with a new floor board about a year ago, and no body damage or rust. We did do a very professional repair to the drivers floor (welded in a panel) as some corrosion had begun, and we did both rockers as there was slight damage there. The welding was done to a very high standard and this body and chassis are oustanding and the door and hood gaps are fantastic. Inside the original seats are near perfect, with one very small separation on the drivers side squab, not noticeable and hardly worth bothering with. There is also a small hole (patched) in the convertible top. The top however works great, windows are good, and for me its either down or collapsed under the hardtop. There is all new carpet kit installed , and a high quality FM stereo CD player with remote control and big speaker boxes so nothing would be cut. Please see also all the original paperwork and even a can of original touch up that came with the car included here. Recent mechanical items done just this past spring are an all new cooling system and radiator, new alternator (the correct one) fresh battery with Lucas style badging, and the carbs were overhauled. The car drives just beautifully and is ready to step into and enjoy. I will assist with shipping to anywhere or deliver it for gas money and a bus or train ticket home within 1000 miles of Los Angeles ( I would LOVE to do this). This is just a great car, a real car, not a salvaged or bodged up mess. So please, get a good one whatever you do, I am the past president of the Triumph Register here in So. Calif and would love to answer any questions about this , or any TR-6 you are considering. A good one is a delight, a bad one could cost you a lot of money to put right and even if you get it all sorted out and driving well, the devil is in the details to get all the wonderful features working, and looking correct as they already do on this car. The car will sell to the high bidder and is reserved well under the other cars lsited making it a super bargain and probably the lowest priced quality TR-6 for sale this summer or this year! Add the desireable hard top and other features, and this is a STEAL. The buyer will have my full support, a guarantee of clear title and current registration, and unlimted support to make this a wonderful experience. Buy with confidence from a known seller, TR-6 lover, and fair trader in every way. See my feedback and ask all questions. Thanks so much. Bobby. On Jun-28-10 at 19:31:02 PDT, seller added the following information: Thank you to the many people who have asked great questions. I will summarizehanswers here: First, yes there are THREE separate and distinct tonneau covers included with this car all which came only with ahrdtop vehicles: 1) The full zip tonneau covering the whole interior which can be unzipped so the driver can drive with the rest covered. 2) The boot cover tonneau for when the hardtop is removed. This coveres the soft top only. 3) The hardtop tonneau boot cover is a completely different shape; tailored to cover the inside of the car and the soft top area only when the hardtop is fitted. All three are shown in the photos and all are in nearly new condition with all snaps and zippers in perfect order. If the soft top is completely removed for hardtop use, the hardtop interior tonneau makes a great cover for items stored behind the sdeats! These are very expensive to buy as each cover costs quite a bit. All three are inlcuded. Next there is a non standard headlamp switch tastefully fitted without harm to the original dash. It is a pull type. It works so well in both positions as if made for the car that I did not change it out but the original switch has arrived and will be included or I can change it, but the new owner shoud really try the pull switch. Its great! I will be happy to continue to answer and post any questions on line or off and any additional pictures can be supplied with a little notice. Thanks again. Bobby.
