Vehicle Detail

This is a 1971 VW Transporter II (Type 2) Bus with 84K on the odometer. The 1971 Type 2 features a 1.6 litre engine with dual intake ports on each cylinder head and was DIN-rated at 37 kilowatts (50 PS; 50 bhp) with a 4-Speed manual transmission. I commute in this bus everyday and have taken many long trips without any problems. It is very mechanically sound; engine turns over on first try, idles smoothly, and shifts properly with good acceleration, and it brakes evenly with no noise. All of the lights work and the general maintenance have recently been completed; new fuel pump and filter, belts, oil strainer and filter, etc. All tires have good tread and there are two extra spares. Gets great gas mileage, body is straight with only a few scrapes that can be seen in the pictures. The inside is a clean shell and ready to convert into the original seats, a camper or a business vehicle. I am only selling this since I have a new baby; but I am a little sad to see it go. There are dozens of place to get about every part you would ever need for a possible interior restoration just Google it. The bus has the normal wear that one would expect with its age. As far as rust goes, there are some parts on the undercarriage where the grey undercoding is peeling off, mostly in the wheel wells; but no rust has taken hold. The rust spots that do exist are on the side panels where some scratches have taken the paint off. Otherwise, there is no rust on the undercarriage, body, floor pans, etc. This bus has not been repainted; it still has the original paint from 1971. I do have all the interior panels; however they do not have leather on them and they are bent is some places. If you choose to make replacement panels, they would serve as good templates. Here is a link to some high resolution pictures of the bus; please be patient with the loading because the images are pretty large. If anyone would like specific images of a part, please let me know and I will post them. www.blackwelltechnologies.com/VWBusPictures/VWBusPictures1.asp I ask for a $500 deposit within three days and the remainder due in ten days. I prefer a cashier’s check or PayPal for payment. For any additional information, please call me, Ryan, at (530) 318-2067 or email me at rblackwell@bartonhealth.org.
