Vehicle Detail
This 1972 Lincoln Limousine is owned by the AACA (Antique Automobile Club of America) Museum in Hershey, Pennsylvania, a non-profit Museum dedicated to the preservation and interpretation of transportation history. The vehicle was recently donated by a museum benefactor who lost the storage space where he had been keeping this project. This is a true project car that was started by the donor. It is a solid car with many extra parts but it is beyond the scope of the projects we typically take on here at the Museum. It is offered now to the highest bidder with a reasonable opening bid and no reserve. All proceeds benefit the Museum. The car is not for sale outside of eBay and the auction will not be ended early. Although not in running condition, the car had a current registration when it was donated to the Museum. We do not know the last time it was actually on the road. The donor told us he purchased the car for restoration because it was unique and fairly rare. It features a silver exterior with a black leather interior with blue carpeting and headliner. It also has a vinyl top, rear sunroof and interior divider. He discovered that the original 460 cubic inch V8 engine that was in the car ran but had low compression. He pulled the original engine and transmission and purchased a similar drive train that came from a low-mileage (42,000) vehicle. Both 460 engines and C6 automatic transmissions come with this car and are included as part of this auction. Neither engine nor transmission has been tested by the Museum and the description of their condition is based solely on information provided by the donor. As you can see by the photographs, the car is project that needs completion. The body is fairly straight and has only limited surface rust on the trunk deck and around the area originally covered by the partial vinyl roof. The interior, trim and accessories are mostly present and either usable as is or useful as a rebuildable core. The donor assembled many new and used parts for this project. Most of the major items are shown in the listing’s photographs. Of note are a new radiator, new alternator, full stainless steel exhaust and four new tires. The tires are important because they are a special design, weight rated for the heavier limo body and fairly expensive. It has a valid Pennsylvania title which will be transferred to the new owner upon successful completion of the transaction. Shipping and transportation of the limousine will be the responsibility of the new owner. The new owner will have two weeks from the completion of the auction to pick up the vehicle unless other arrangements are made in advance. The trailer is located at the AACA Museum, 161 Museum Drive, Hershey, PA 17033. Payment may be in the form of cash, money order, cashier’s check or PayPal (with all fees paid by the purchaser).
