Vehicle Detail

SURVIVOR -- 1991 Cadillac Brougham d'Elegance (Fleetwood) 000,024 Miles -- Garaged and On Blocks Since New -- Original Owner (Interested parties may call: 8 0 1 8 1 5 - 9 2 6 5) This is a rare opportunity to own an extraordinary, like new, "Detroit Magic" Cadillac by General Motors Corporation, with only 24 miles on it! The exterior is metallic dark blue with a dark blue leather interior. Don't wait for the Manheim, Kruse International, Pebble Beach or Monterey car auctions, because this sparkling car won't be there. This rare Cadillac is only available right here. This might be the only pristine 1991 Cadillac Brougham d'Elegance survivor in the world. It presents a unique opportunity to own a stellar example of "Detroit Iron", that floats down the road with that smooth "Detroit Magic" ride. It is unlikely that any Brougham d'Elegance has been cared for as well as this one has. I am the original owner, and I bought this car new in 1991. It was built to order, and stored for 19 years, up on blocks. My original plan was to have it in storage for only a few years, and then drive it. But, due to job changes, family, and homes with garages too short, it ended up staying in storage for all of it's life. Except for the past year, it was always stored in a storage unit all by itself, where there were no items to fall on it, no kids bikes to scratch it and no garbage cans to dent it. I started it every 6 months, after siphoning out old gas, and adding new gas to the tank each time. It has only experienced sunshine on a handful of occasions since I took delivery of it. Three times to wash it, twice to transport it, and once to photograph it. It has NEVER! been in the rain since I took delivery. The only part that is not original is the battery, which I replaced in 2009 with a new GM Delco original equipment battery. I ordered this car new from the Bert Pontiac Cadillac GMC dealer in Billings, Montana in 1991. All of my purchase documents are included with the car. It was assembled at the Arlington GM Assembly plant in Texas. I immediately put the car in an indoor storage facility in Montana, and then a year later had it transported to Reno Nevada, where it was stored in an indoor storage facility until 2009. In July, 2009, I transported the car by trailer to our home in Utah, where it is now again garaged and up on blocks. Original uncut GM Cadillac key blanks that came with car are included. Everything you would get with a new Cadillac in 1991 is provided with this sale. The original window sticker (can't believe I found it), purchase agreement / bill of sale, owners manual (386 pages long), example CD, example cassette tapes (2), warranty cards, brochures (including brochure of Cadillac's full line of cars), and other purchase documents, are all included. Even the four blank uncut gold like keys are included in their original pouch. Below is an image of the car's window sticker, listing all the car's features. The window sticker has a couple of taped tears hear the top. Since it was stored folded, some of the printed text crossed over from one side to the other . . . Added options included the d'Elegance Leather Seating ($2445) with the plush tufted leather seats, front and back. It also has the AM/FM/CD/Cassette Delco sound system ($396) and the Automatic Day/Night Mirror ($110). The Brougham Option Package C ($360) provides the fuel filler door remote release and theft-deterrent security system. As part of the 7,000 lbs (brochure says 5,000 lbs, window sticker says 7,000 lbs) Trailer Towing Package option ($549), the car has the rare 5.7 Liter Engine. Most of these cars were produced with the standard 5.0 Liter engine. You can tell by the stance of a car if it is a 5.7 car without reading the back label. They sit up higher. The 5.7 has more muscle, yet is matched with comfortable handling for a big car. The car has the, now impossible to find, gold stripe Royal Seal tires, with the standard 15" wheel coverings. The Cadillac was undercoated by the Cadillac dealer prior to delivery, thus there is little if any rust on the underside of the car from atmospheric moisture. It was stored 1 year in Montana and 17 years in Northern Nevada and 1 year in Utah, all dry climates. END OF ERA The 1991 Cadillac Brougham d'Elegance represents the end of an era of big roomy cars. This body style ran for 12 years (1980-1992), making it the one of the longest running platforms in GM history. As a whole, the rear wheel drive Cadillac Brougham d'Elegance was from an era of a classy looking well built cars with lots of room, chrome, style and appeal. The car weighs 4,200 lbs. Producing large cars with the intricate trim, chrome and detail became uneconomical, so the General Motors made a quick exit from these cars in the 1990's. Many of these big Cadillac cars were used up and discarded as people shunned their large size and poor fuel economy. You can not buy a big Cadillac like this today, unless you purchase an Escalade SUV, which is an entirely different type of vehicle. To purchase a new large car like this today, you have to go with an extended length Jaguar, BMW, Mercedes, Rolls or Bentley, spending $75,000 to $250,000. The Cadillac is 18.5 feet long. STORAGE & CONDITION The car is in new condition, with a couple of exceptions. The original battery has been replaced with a new GM Delco original equipment battery, the air conditioning air is no longer cool and the car was undercoated by the original Cadillac dealer. Other than these items, you have a completely new car. I even kept a towel on the driver side floor mat so I would not get the floor mat dirty when starting the car every 6 months. If the winning bidder desires, I can have a trusted local garage come to my home to check and recharge the air conditioning system prior to delivery. The car was stored up on blocks to protect the tires. The car was always covered with a cotton car cover, and then a plastic sheet was placed over the car cover to reduce dust and dirt from reaching the car's paint surface. The car has been stored for its entire life; 1 year in Montana, 17 years in Nevada and 1 year in Utah, all dry climates. I visited the car every six months for 19 years to start the car, letting it run in gear for a few minutes, and then hand spinning the front wheels too. For the first 18 years it was stored inside, in its own storage unit by itself There were no things to fall on it, no people taking out garbage and banging it, no kids taking their bike out and scratching it with handle bars. Since 2009, it has been stored in our garage, again up on blocks and covered. There are no dents, of any kind on the car. When it was transported by trailer from Montana to Nevada, and from Nevada to Utah, the weather was clear, so there has been no rain and road spray on the car or on the undercarriage. In July, 2009, I transported the car by trailer from Nevada to Utah myself, on a heavy-duty auto transport trailer, behind a large 26ft Penske truck. The large truck in front prevented any bugs reaching the car on the trailer . . . I took delivery of the car from the dealer with 15 miles on the odometer. There are now 24 miles on it. Half of these additional miles are non-miles, since when I started the car every 6 months, I would place it in drive and let it run for a few minutes. Since the car was up on blocks, the wheels would spin in the air, adding a little to the odometer reading each time. INSPECTION I have described the car in detail, striving to be as accurate as possible. Yet I understand the need to see a car prior to purchase. If you are serious about owning this fine automobile, you are welcome to inspect the car. No test drives will be allowed. You can also ask me questions by calling my cell at: 8 0 1 8 1 5 - 9 2 6 5. WARRANTY The car starts and runs smoothly. This is based on my experience starting the car every 6 months for 19 years, and my recent experience starting the car and driving it out of the storage facility to transport it to Utah, to wash it, and to photograph it for this ebay listing. But with that said, this car is being sold in as-is, where-is condition, without a warranty of any kind. No warranties are expressed or implied. You will have to judge for yourself from my listing, and any personal inspection you may make, whether you want to own this unique car. I do know that the air conditioning no longer cools, but other than that, I know of no other ailment. If the winning bidder desires, I can have a trusted local garage come to my home to check and recharge the air conditioning system prior to delivery. This will likely add an additional $200 to the final price. Nonetheless, the car has been garaged for 19 years, and cars can develop hidden problems sitting. If you plan on driving the car, you should have your preferred auto mechanic go through it thoroughly. Except for refreshing the gas every 6 months, no other fluids have been changed over the 19 years. TITLE There is no title for the car, since I have never titled it. I told the Montana Registrar of Motor Vehicles that I had no plan to drive the car and did not want to license it, so they sent me the original General Motors Certificate of Origin For A Vehicle. Most states and countries, after reviewing all the supporting original documentation that is included with this car, should not have a problem titling the car. Having this original General Motors certificate for this extraordinary Cadillac is extremely rare . . . Original GM "Certificate of Origin" Date of manufacturer: 28-June-1991. Date of Delivery: 14-July-1991. SHIPPING Cost of shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. I will make the car available to a shipper you arrange to pick up the car. International bidders are welcome, but they must have a certified American agent handle all the customs and import/export details. The car is located 40 miles from the Salt Lake City International Airport. PAYMENT TERMS & METHODS The successful bidder will submit a $2000 deposit, within two (2) days of the successful bid to secure the vehicle, and pay the remaining balance due within fourteen (14) days of the successful bid, by bank wire or cashier check. The vehicle will not be released until 5 business days after the total amount has been has cleared. Buyer is responsible for all state, county, city taxes and fees, as well as title/registration fees in the state that the vehicle may be registered. International buyers are responsible for all taxes and fees in their country, including all import fees and duties.
