1968 Ford Mustang Convertible 289 Automatic ******SOLID SOLID SOLID****** Here is a very solid 1968 Ford Mustang Convertible. The car needs some very minor TLC however is very solid and has tons of new parts and work done to it. There shouldn’t be any worry about the description. See the feedback, it speaks for its self. Below is an accurate description of the good, the bad and the ugly, based on my knowledge of the classic Mustangs. This car came out of Mississippi where they do not use salt, hence the great condition of the underside of the Mustang. What needs TLC- -The power top needs assistance going up and down. The pump runs, however it is very weak and you can hear the fluid being pumped. -The driver’s side freeze plug in the back of the head has a split in it. I felt it with my finger and tried to epoxy it but its still leaking. It’s not the head. This is a 2-3 hour fix to pull the head and replace the freeze plug. -The B&M ratchet shifter is junk. It works, but it’s just a pain to shift. I’d buy the correct shifter for a Mustang and replace it. - The body has various chips, a few bubbles, a ding and a couple cracks in the hood -The bumpers are drivers quality and need re-chromed, however they are laser straight. -The paint is drivers quality. It’s a few years old. It could use a good detail -If any of this scares or alarms you, this is not the car for you. The Good- -The body is pretty darn straight. Doors close nice -The top is in decent shape but could use a good scrubbing. The convertible tops frame work was even cleaned and restored at some point. -The floor pans have been professionally replaced, The torque boxes and all frame work look great. The rocker panels are solid and show no rust. The trunk extensions are solid and not even any surface rust that I could feel. All of the wheel wells are solid with no holes or rust. If you know Mustangs, all of the aforementioned is what dictates the structural integrity of a classic convertible Mustang. -Here is a list of new parts – -The doors do not sag and shut nicely -Shocks -Radiator -All weather stripping -Tires -Leaf springs -Intake and carb -Gas tank -New dual exhaust -All interior is new, seat upholstery, carpet and door panels -Dash pad is nice, as is all gauges and all appear to be functional. -Under dash lights even work when you open the doors. The pictures speak for themselves. The car runs nicely, however I have only run it in short intervals due to the freeze plug leak. I was told the motor has 5000 miles on it since rebuild back in 2000 and I believe it based on the sound of it, no oil leaks or smoke. It really does purr and idle nicely. Power steering is nice as well. This car is for sale locally and auction may end at anytime. The buyer is responsible for all shipping charges. There is a $300 deposit due at auction end. The balance must be paid in cash, wire transfer or certified bank check within 1 week of auction end. The car is being sold as is, where is. The car will not leave until funds have cleared from a wire transfer or certified bank check. Cash is the preferred method. If you have questions, please do not hesitate to call me. 443-496-0701.
