Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is my 1962 Series 62 Six Window Sedan DeVille Cadillac. This is a beautiful car (see the pictures--really is amazing to look at) that gets a lot of attention and runs sound. This is the kind of car that everywhere you go you get people asking if you want to sell--well here's your chance. I bought this car as a cruiser and as something I would do little upgrades to here and there. Unfortunately, I have just been too busy for this beauty, as I am about to take the California Bar exam and hopefully start a new job soon thereafter. It really is unfair to this car to have it driven just once a week, and I have decided, with great heart ache, to put it up here to see what kind of offers come my way. Features: *Recent complete valve job and replaced all cylinder heads (cost: $1650.00) *Original everything (all chrome, trim, radio, engine, carb, tranny, etc) *Custom tiger print interior (spots, not stripes) *Custom paint job with flames The paint is absolutely beautiful. It is a DEEP purple metal flake and custom, well done flames along the hood and side panels. This is a very artistic job, with truly beautiful details and coloring (even a skull holding a martini glass at the very front of the side panel that is almost unnoticeable, but shows the artistic dedication put into this paint job). The paint shows some minor, minor bubbling and a few scratches on the trunk and back quarter panel, and there is a crack on the driver's side far back panel (see picture), but overall it is looking amazing. The interior is all tiger print--the bench seats, the headliner, the carpet--all look amazing. The carpet is starting to show some wear, especially on the passenger side floor board, but the seats and headliner are holding up nicely. Behind the passenger seat there is custom purple shag. This is the most outrageously beautiful paint/interior combo I have seen. A real head turner. The original trim and chrome is all there, as well as the original "seeking" radio, and the "magic eye" (which detects oncoming headlights and turns off your brights)--both of which work. The original clock is not working, but looks in pristine shape. The automatic bench seat does not work, though it has always been set perfectly for me, so it may just be a fuse. Actually, that is quite possible as all of the four automatic windows work extremely well--factory fresh speed (the passenger side front window moves a little slow, but all of the others are faster than 2000's cars). Mechanically, the car is sound. The engine had recent work done, costing over $1,600 (new cylinder heads and valve job). The transmission shifts as it should, with no issues. The carburetor is original and will need to be replaced at some point. There is a dead spot when accelerating quickly on a cold start. I was an inch away from putting in a new Holley/Edelbrock carb, but decided to keep it all original--so it will be up to you. The power steering is perfect and the radiator is fine. New belts throughout, as well as spark plugs, oil and air filters etc. The brakes are solid. The front suspension needs new bushings, as it is creaky over bumps/pot holes. I actually purchased new front end bushings, and will include them with the sale. Finally, the windshield wipers do not work--the vacuum system is acting up, as sometimes they go on and other times they don't (maybe a solenoid, maybe something else??). The air condition should work, though it is currently not hooked up to the serpentine belt. The heat and defrost both work. The odometer no longer works, but since the engine work there has been less than 1,000 miles. The mileage listed above is what is currently on the odometer, but not the actual mileage. The title is CLEAN, in my name, and the registration is current through January 2011. Comes with original black California plates. A little bit of work, and your have a beautiful, perfect Series 62 Caddy with custom paint and interior at a relatively LOW reserve. 1962 is my favorite year for Caddies, see the pictures and you will know why. Included in the price is a print copy of the original shop manual, a car cover I got here on ebay (that doesn't fit perfectly, but does its job), and all of the various parts I have accumulated. Also, there is a pretty old, but working cd player installed in a box on the carpet. Easily removable (not in dash--nothing cut), but its yours as well. It is a Kenwood model. If I sell this locally, I may end the auction early. But, I will most likely put any local buyer on hold until this ends, so bid away. Also, I have done my best to describe everything as fully and honestly as I can, and feel free to come test drive or ask any further questions. But this vehicle is being sold as is, as I will not ship across the country without that condition to this sale, though again I implore you to come have a look in person if at all possible. THANKS for looking. Shipping is your responsibility, but I will do everything I can to make shipping easy for you, including driving up to 50 miles to the location of the cheapest shipping place you can find in the area. Need to know anything else? Send me a message. Want to see it in person (I am near the North Park area of San Diego, CA)? Send me a message. Again, no major cost here, everything is perfect and to the best of my knowledge, OEM.
