Vehicle Detail

For sale - 1981 Pontiac Trans Am WS6 4-speed with 93k mi. This is an original numbers matching Trans Am with a 4 speed manual, 4 wheel disk brakes, T-tops and turbo wheels. The interior is two tone gold with brown center console, dash and Steering wheel. This car does not have AC. The car was not optioned with AC from the factory. This is a unique car that was manufactured for sale only in California. In 1980 and 1981 the tight emission regulations in California caused Pontiac to only offer a 305 corporate small block in that state. No other engine was available. Likewise the 305 could not be found in a Trans Am in any state outside of California. Another interesting option are the turbo wheels which could only be found on a Turbo Trans Am EXCEPT in California. This car was ordered with them from the factory. I am listing this car for a relative. I am not the title holder of the car. If you have any questions about the car feel free to ask and I will answer them. If you would like to schedule a time to view the car contact me and I will get you in touch with the owner. On Jun-02-10 at 16:00:44 PDT, seller added the following information: I've received a lot of comments and questions about the car over the past several days. This update is an attempt to respond to some of the more common ones. The floors, rockers, trunk and chassis are all very clean and solid on the car. The Paint is fairly new. It was painted about 6 months ago, give or take. Before the car was painted there was some rust repair done on the lower portions of the front fenders. The rest of the car was extremely solid and needed little to no work done to prep it for paint. Again, I am not the owner of the vehicle but I will answer questions via email. If you would like to speak with the owner directly you can call him, 330 five nine two 5764 There has been quite a few remarks about the availability of the 5.0l engine in the 1981 Trans Ams. Its seems I confused some of the information on the 1980 model year with the 1981. I dug deeper and this is what I found. The 400 and 403 were yanked in 80 due to CAFE regulations. The 5.0l was the only V8 available in a Trans Am sold in CA in 1980 and 1981 due to CARB emission regulations. Was the 5.0l was available outside of the state of CA 1980. No. Was the 5.0l was available outside of the state of CA 1981. Yes. The only way to get a manual transmission in a Trans Am in 1981 was to have it mated to a 5.0l. This info I gathered only raises more questions. The production numbers shows that NO 5.0l was mated with an automatic in 1981. So all the Trans Ams sold in California in 1981 were manuals? Doubtful. So how would they have sold Pontiac engines in California during 1980 and 1981? I have no clue. Im definitely not interested in starting a flame war over "what was" or "was not" in 1980-1981. I'm simply saying the "facts" don't add up and that I cannot currently confirm the state of origin for this car. I didn't intent to mislead anyone. Sorry i didn't have all my facts strait before drafting the description.
