This is an extraordinary example of a 1977 Cadillac Coupe DeVille, purchased earlier this year from the estate of the original owner. The car has been garaged in the same house in San Diego County for the past 33 years, and has accumulated a total of 53,491 miles. Kept in immaculate condition by its loving owners, the car still wears its original Jennifer Blue exterior paint, complemented by a slightly darker blue half vinyl roof, and a blue leather interior. It features the desirable 7-litre 425 cubic inch V8 engine, with a 4-barrel carburetor, yet gets respectable mileage (in the 13-15 mpg range). It has 4 excellent steel-belted radial whitewall tires (the spare is half-bald), fires up on the first crank of the starter, and drives smoothly - just like a 53,000 mile car should. Amazingly, it also handles and stops well, especially for a car that is not a compact. It went through the California smog tests in December of '09 (passing easily); does not smoke; and is registered through September of '10. The leather is clean and unmarked; the carpets and floor mats are good; the car drives wonderfully, and all the systems function properly (including the A/C and the stereo/ tape deck). It is registered with its original blue California tags (which are NOT the ones shown in the photos, for privacy purposes), and features the optional factory wire wheel covers. The chrome is good throughout, and the bumpers show no dents or bruises. The rubberized fender extensions on the rear fenders have been replaced, as the originals typically crack and show their age poorly. With the car comes the original, mint owner's manual, the warranty information, and the original Bill of Sale from the selling dealer, Marvin K. Brown of San Diego, dated 9/17/77. Reality check: Please understand that while this Cadillac still looks new, it is 33 years old, and does have some minor irritants: the driver's outside mirror must be adjusted by hand, as the cable to do so from the driver's inner door panel is missing. The mirror unit is the type with the temperature gauge built into it, and while it works, there is some pitting on the front area of the chrome. The radio's automatic antenna doesn't raise by itself, but the reception is excellent. The original paint on this car is shiny and bright, but there are two small door nicks as well as a number of small imperfections in the finish, which appear to be extremely small stone chips. Additionally, there is a small dent at the very bottom of the right rear fender, just behind the wheel (illustrated in the photos), and there is a roughly 1inch by 2 inch area on the right hand rear fender that has been carefully repainted. Two of the factory simulated wire wheel covers show signs of curb rash, and there is some pitting in several of the spokes. Finally, the chrome emblem on the trunk lid is missing its swivel-cover with the Cadillac crest. These minor issues aside, this Cadillac is a superb example of a vanishing breed of full-size luxury car. It truly looks and drives as if it were a much newer car kept in pristine condition. I'm confident in its overall high level of quality, and - since almost everyone knows someone in San Diego - why not have a friend or an appraiser come and thoroughly inspect the car. Better yet, come examine it yourself, buy it, and drive it home. The BIN price is much less than the book value.
