Up for auction is one 1960 Triumph TR3A. It had a frame up restoration in 2000. It’s won several shows and placed 2nd in the participant’s choice category of the Triumph Register of America Nationals in 2004. Every assembly on the car was rebuilt. The frame was blasted, sprayed and filled with a rust preventative before being painted. Its back seat was replaced with a new one from Moss Motors. The original seat bottom will be included. Included are several boxes of spare parts, a plastic bin full of lengths of Triumph electrical wire, a set of car dollies, 5 triumph books and a set of knock offs and wire wheel adapters with that have been modified with 6mm spacers so that you don’t have to trim the lug bolts in order to mount wire wheels. It has been converted to negative ground and a Delco 55 amp alternator and generic gear reduction starter have been installed. It sports TR6 rack and pinion steering. For those who have driven a stock TR3A, you’ll appreciate the ease with which you can steer this one. This car started out as a concours car. Photos are listed of that version too. We decided to convert to participant’s choice to make it easier to drive and make it more reliable. It has its original drive train. The original steering wheel, shaft and horn button will be included with most of the parts necessary to convert it back. It currently has a TR6 wheel. It has a TR4 sway bar up front. It has an original Triumph ashtray, unused, installed under the dash and a cigar lighter. It has its original owners manual and a set of tools. It comes with a tarpaulin cover, almost new side screens, side screen carrying bag, a new knock off hammer and its original engine crank. The British license plate on the front is original and came with the car when it was first picked up in Great Britain. It has been documented and will be included. We believe this is a “continental car” from a Triumph sales promotion where you could fly to England, pick up the car at the factory and tour Great Britain and the mainland. Then you drove it back to the factory and they crated it up and shipped it home for you. This was the opinion of several Triumph TR3 owners at a TRA National meet. The not so good: It is an older restoration and has tiny nicks in the paint. It could use new tires. The tread is fine, but they are older and should be replaced. The front apron is fiberglass. We did this because at the time, we couldn’t find an original that wasn’t cost prohibitive. The fiberglass apron fit like an original and much better than the metal reproductions available at the time. The air deflectors inside the apron are made from aluminum, not fiberboard like the originals. The original breathers are also included with the K&Ns shown. It has a spin on oil filter adapter and its original oil filter canister as well. We had too much time and money invested not to protect the engine. Here are the qualifications.
