Vehicle Detail

1951 Plymouth Cranbrook classic 1950's cruiser - 50's  1951 Plymouth Cranbrook This car is a great car for the guy that wants to have a good looking, working project car. Drive it as is or tinker with it and/or restore it for a minimal expense. It is a flat head 6 with a 6 volt wiring system, 3 on the tree. The body is in really good shape, it was repainted once. The tires are radials and have lots of rubber on them. The engine runs smooth once warm, the transmission is in great shape, we readjusted all the linkage. The car had a full tune up a year or so ago. It's easy to drive, easy to fix and parts are readily available. The car is solid.  So whats wrong with it?? The rust is minimal, but is has a little. There is some inside the trunk including perforation through the floor pan towards the edges, and a tiny bit just developing down on the rocker panels. The upholstery is in rough shape and is in need of being re-done. I currently have blankets over the seats. The chrome on the bumpers is worn, there is a small dent in the trunk lid and it is missing a small chrome corner piece on the back window trim. One side of the windshield is cracked. The other side has a bullseye ding. The compression is lower in one cylinder, probably a valve. This could probably be solved with head work, but the car does run and drive OK as the drive train is basically solid. The car has a near new, very strong 6 volt battery in her to insure good starts when its warm. ( a chronic problem with these cars) This car has been kept in a garage for the 17 years I have owned it. Occasionally used for Sunday drives. Before I owned it, it was located in Idaho and stored for years. It has 74,500 miles on the odometer. I believe this is original. It still has one factory original headlight. I have set a very reasonable reserve on this car so I expect it to sell. It is a gem, but I don't have any grand visions about this car being worth a great fortune, and I need the space so I have set a reserve well below current market value on this car, so it will sell. IMPORTANT: This car is located in Vancouver Canada, which is about 3 hours north of Seattle. Although the car runs and drives, the car should be towed any long distances due the the antiquarian nature of the old girl. It has been sitting for the best part of the last year, and one of the rear brakes feels like it is dragging a bit. The high bidder should pick the car up with a car trailer, and must remove it within 2 - 3 weeks of the auction closing. I am selling the car to make room in my carport for another vehicle, so I am not able to store it beyond this reasonable pick up time. Do not fly in and expect to drive this car home to Florida. She is a running example, but has not been used much in the last years, and any tinkering and driving should be done close to home. A trailer will be required. Vancouver, British Columbia is a beautiful place in the spring, so bring your tow vehicle and trailer, and make an enjoyable holiday out of it. Being over 25 years old, it is an easy import back into the USA.  PLEASE DO NOT BID IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY IN PLACE TO COMPLETE THE SALE. THE HIGH BIDDER IN THE AUCTION MUST LEAVE AN IMMEDIATE CREDIT CARD DEPOSIT OF $300.00 RIGHT AT THE CLOSE OF THE AUCTION (within 30 minutes). THE COMPLETE BALANCE MUST BE PAID IN FULL WITHIN 7 DAYS. IF YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO DO THIS, PLEASE DO NOT BID. This has been a very fun car for me to own and drive for 17 years, and it always turns heads and makes people smile. It is looking for a new home with an owner that can really make her shine again. The car is not perfect, but it is a good example in fairly sound original condition, and worthy of a good home. Good luck to all bidders! Feel free to email me with any questions you have. johncrossen@shaw.ca Reasonable reserve ! Good luck with your bids!
