Vehicle Detail
The car was built in Long Beach, California and sent to Kay Hall Ford in Madras, Oregon; bought by a gentleman in Madras who owned it until 1968; sold it to someone in the state of Washington and when I bought it 8 years ago and shipped it east, it came with the original title and tags from Washington. That's the history of the car. I have put around 1000 miles on it since I've owned it. The car came with a new top, and a rebuilt Cruise-O-Matic transmission. The radio and clock does not work. But it has the original convertible top BOOT and the original bias ply spare tire in the trunk (never been used). I put a new dual exhaust on it with glass packs. I drove it to shows for the first two years. Then I retired to North Carolina. The first thing I did after driving it to NC was replace the engine with another rebuilt 390 engine and new 4 barrel carb. from Auto Zone. The engine is correct for the car but with the advantage of using regular gas. I dressed the engine up with chrome and it looks neat! The engine has about 400 miles on it. While the engine was out, I replaced the front end with disc brakes, a new master cylinder, and radial tires all around…….Now it drives like a newer car and is really road worthy. Two years ago I put it in the garage and redid the interior with new seats, carpet, dash pad, glove box, and removed and rebuilt the heater plus other repairs I thought it needed. I bought new trunk side liners and they come with the car. The car body is original with one paint job over the years, the chrome and body should be redone if you want a $30,000 plus car; otherwise it’s great to drive and loves to be shown (You should here some of the stories told to me when I show it). I have not hooked up the heater and shift knob is out of position (both easy fixes, but not for this 73 yr old man that can’t crawl around anymore). The car comes with repair and body manuals and with all the original brake and other parts taken off the car. To date I have spent including the purchase I have spent a little over $24,000. I don’t have the money to complete the project so it’s time to pass it on.
