No Reserve, True Auction, $100 Open Please read this entire description before bidding. It is a very complete description. BIDDER REQUIREMENTS: I require that bidders have at least 10 feedback and a very high positive feedback rate before bidding on my auctions. Sorry if this offends some, but I want to maximize the chances of this auction going through and don't want to relist. I will exercise my right to cancel any bids. THIS AUCTION: This auction is a true auction, no reserve, low opening bid. I never end my auctions early. High bidder will win MY 1992 Jeep Wrangler. TITLE: is free and clear. VIRGINIA STATE INSPECTION: April 2010, good for another 11 months. PAYMENT TERMS: Cash - in person, or Bank of America Money Order/Cashier's check. No exceptions paperwork doesn't get done until I have the money in my bank. PHOTOS: Photos are recent, taken yesterday, May 16, 2010 MY PHILOSOPHY: I try to describe everything I know about a vehicle in the description. That way there are few surprises. The only two auctions I've conducted on e-bay were for a Honda Civic I sold for my mother and a Jeep Pickup. Both buyers were very happy with their purchases (see my feedback). I have done most the work on my Wrangler so I know it well. WHY ARE YOU SELLING?: Moved to the city where parking is a hassle. My priorities have also changed and don't have the time or money to work on my Wrangler anymore. With that in mind I'm hoping that someone with a love of Jeeps will buy my Wrangler and continue to fix it up. TEST DRIVES/BIDDER INSPECTION: I would like a minimum of 24 hours notice if you want to test drive my Wrangler, 48 hours would be appreciated. Please keep the weather in mind as I will not drive this jeep in the rain as it does not have a top. Test drives are at your risk, if you get into an accident or get a ticket, you will need to pay for it. I would be happy to let you drive the vehicle, but will have to drive the Jeep on the highway myself as it sits too high and its wheelbase is too short (i.e. unstable) for me to trust anyone else. Please bring your driver's license and be prepared to show it. SHIPPING: Keep in mind that this is an open top jeep with absolutely no top. The tire width is greater than standard. The best thing to do is flat bed it as it will not fit onto a standard U-Haul car carrier or tow dolly. Basically as is, where is. WILL IT DRIVE CROSS-COUNTRY?: Theoretically yes, jeeps are very solid and reliable vehicles. I believe this one is no different. I typically drive into Washington, DC and back which is 20 miles and have never had problems. But would I drive it cross country? definitely not, I just wouldn't want to chance it. HISTORY/OVERVIEW: I bought this 1992 Jeep Wrangler as a tax seizure at a Fairfax County Sherrif's Auction in July of 2007. Asides from the 4 inch body lift and oversize tires, this is a basic, stock jeep with 4 cylinder engine and 5 speed manual transmission. GENERAL MAINTENANCE: Changed battery, spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, rotor, changed oil/filter, put in an O2 sensor that was originally missing, changed air filter. MILEAGE: High miles, I have only driven this Wrangler 1400 miles in three years, great for cruising around, going on milk runs to the store. TRANSMISSION/TRANSFER CASE: The AX-5, transmission that came with this jeep had failed synchromeshers, I had to double-clutch to change gears. I had the transmission professionally replaced with the a used AX-5 transmission I bought off e-bay. At the same time I had the flywheel, clutch, and transmission shifter replaced. Now it drives nicely and shifts nicely. No problems with the transfer case either, I tested 2High, 4High, 4Low yesterday when I took the photos and the 4 wheel drive system works great. FUEL SYSTEM: This Wrangler sat for at least a year so I think some of the gas hardened in the gas tank. I replaced the fuel regulator and fuel filter. This Wrangler has a 20 gallon fuel tank EMERGENCY BRAKE SYSTEM: Tightened Emergency Brake, installed a new emergency brake switch - so dashboard light, illuminates when you push emergency brake pedal. TIRES: Bought spare tire and spare tire carrier. Rotated and balanced tires. Replaced all valve stems. BRAKE SYSTEM: At some point someone used crud as brake hydraulic fluid. I replaced everything in the brake system except the brake lines and brake pads: master/slave brake cylinders, front calipers, power booster. Quadratec sells a nice rear brake drum overhaul kit. I replaced the entire rear drum brake system with their kit. INTERIOR/BODY/CORROSION: New driver and passenger seats with new seat sliders. New passenger seat riser. Sanded and painted driver side seat riser. New seat covers. Replaced windshield frame and had new windshield professionally installed. The windshield frame is now pristine and has never been cut into. For that reason this jeep comes without a top. This jeep has little corrosion for its age, but from the photos you can see 2 trouble spots. The driver's side floor/wall junction. This is typical for jeeps. I don't know if it was from wear or a puddle of water sat in the driver's side foot well, but the driver's floor plate was completely eaten through at some point. Someone did a very nice job welding a metal plate to the floor though. The corrosion in the drivers footwell appears to be localized. SUSPENSION/STEERING: Suspension is rock solid, have never done any work on it. The steering wheel has at least 3 inches of play in it when you drive, not a problem once you get used to it. COOLING SYSTEM: The Wrangler was running too hot, in the end I think it was simply a bad temperature sending unit. But in the process of troubleshooting, I replaced virtually the entire cooling system with exception of the hoses which were good. Replaced the radiator, radiator cap, fan, fan clutch, water pump, water pump gaskets, fan belt, temperature sending unit. Because of the 4 inch body lift the radiator fan did not line up with the radiator, used metal straps to drop the radiator 2 and 3/4 inches. These are easily removable if you don't like them. ENGINE: Have never had any problems with the engine. Jeep engines have a great reputation and ones this old are simple and easy to work on. MILEAGE: 13 mpg, this Wrangler has the aerodynamics of a barn door as it sits so high, you don't buy these vehicles to save on gas that's for sure. REPAIR ISSUES: 1.) I think the fuel filter is partially clogged from the Wrangler having sat so long before I bought it at auction. If the Wrangler sits overnight the fuel injection system loses pressure and you have to really pump the gas pedal before starting. The fuel pump needs to be changed and the gas tank probably cleaned out. For that reason, the Wrangler can cruise all day on level highway at 55 mph. But if you go up an incline you will lose 5-10 mph of speed. I will include a complete, new, dealer, replacement fuel pump with sale. These are pricey and expensive to get. 2.) The valve cover leaks oil, you have to watch the oil level. This is a real simple fix, just a coat of RTV. Just haven't gotten around to it. 3.) The spare tire carrier could use an extender, the tire is big and rests against the rear gate latch so you can't open the gate. 4.) Corrosion on drivers side floor see section entitled "INTERIOR/BODY/CORROSION" for more info. EXTRA PARTS: 1.) Gray foldable back seat with mounting brackets. 2.) Pioneer radio with detachable face plate, speakers and speaker covers. 3.) Complete fuel pump. 4.) One used AX-5 transmission with failed synchromeshers 5.) miscellaneous fuses and fuse box cover. 6.) Black spray paint - matches seat risers. 7.) Red spray paint - matches windshield frame. 8.) floor mats from jeep cherokee. 9.) Driver seat riser. 10.) 2 jacks. 11.) one new transmission shift knob. 12.) emergency brake linkage. QUESTIONS: I will try to post questions publicly on line. But will not post questions if they contain personal information such as your phone number or e-mail.On May-17-10 at 18:52:29 PDT, seller added the following information: An Important addition: Autocheck shows this vehicle being in an accident while I owned it on 12/01/07 in Thornburg, VA. This is definitely a mistake, someone must have accidently put in my VIN when they filed the accident report. I will go down to the police station tomorrow and try to get a copy of the accident report. Hopefully I can get a report by the time the jeep sells. Again please disregard the accident reported on12/01/07. This is INCORRECT.On May-19-10 at 07:17:17 PDT, seller added the following information: I resolved the issue regarding the accident that never happened to my vehicle. The Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Deputy accidently entered my VIN for an collision I was never involved in. I have the accident report which shows the vehicle in question was a 1999 Dodge Dakota and not my 1992 Jeep Wrangler. I will give the buyer of my Wrangler a copy of the report so that in future this will remain clear. Again my Wrangler is accident free before I owned it as determined by AutoCheck and has never been in an accident while I owned it. Section REPAIR ISSUES #1.) should read "I think the fuel pump" and not "the fuel filter" As part of the fuel pump problem, the gas gauge reads too high. This is because the fuel tank float is part of the fuel pump. The gas gauge problem should fix itself when the fuel pump/float is replaced. My fuel pump assembly is complete comes with a fuel float. I took an additional 28 pictures which I was not able to post as e-bay has a 24 picture limit. I would be happy to send these to anyone who is interested, please send me your e-mail. I will send you 4 e-mails with 7 jpgs attached to each e-mail. Each e-mail has about 5 MB in jpg attachments. On May-23-10 at 15:56:16 PDT, seller added the following information: A few things to add: 1.) I put the original transmission (with the failed synchromeshers) on a wooden pallet in the back of the jeep. So the jeep will be already to go with all the extra parts I promised when the high bidder shows up. 2.) I have kept the jeep outside and dry the whole time I've had it. What I do is put a 9' x 9' foot vinyl tarp over the cab. The put a "cab dust cover" on top of the tarp. This holds the tarp down. It has worked out well. I'll give you my "cab dust cover" and vinyl tarp and show you how I do it. 3.) I've decided not to relist if the high bidder doesn't come through on this auction. So this will be your only opportunity to bid. I'll just fix the fuel pump and buy a top myself if the high bidder doesn't come through. 4.) If you show up and are not happy with the way I've described my wrangler you don't have to buy it. I just ask that you show up ready to buy my jeep according to my payment terms.
