Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 This is my wife’s car which she drove daily for the last 10 years. She is the third owner and purchased the vehicle back in 2000 with 34,170 miles. The car currently has 136,993 miles and runs well. We have spent over $3500 since 2008 keeping it maintained however, there are a few additional items that could be fixed, but are not critical. She is selling the car AS IS, NO WARRANTIES, UN-INSPECTED. We have the title in hand, ready to be signed over to the new owner. This is a cute, fun little car especially with the top down in the summertime. I have taken many pictures so please look at the photos to see the condition of the car. I also have given a thorough description of the car as well, but if you have further questions please feel free to ask. I also would encourage you to come see the car in person. All factory books come with the car (owners manual, maintenance and supplements) 1996 Volkswagen Cabrio 136,993 original miles, 2 owner car. Navy blue with manual navy top, gray leather interior, power locks and windows, security system, dual airbags, 5 speed manual transmission, front wheel drive, cruise control, role bar and tilt wheel. Mechanically the car is sound and runs well. The air compressor does not work on the air conditioning, so there is no AC. The check engine light is on as a result of a faulty sensor which has been changed a few times and the light eventually comes back on however there is no engine issue. Exterior of the vehicle is nice and shows well. The paint on the car still has a glossy shine, but there are two small rust spots starting. Both are behind the front wheels on each side, on the rocker panel, see pics. There are two small chips on the front of the hood, about the size of a dime and a nickel, could stand to be touched up. The front end has typical rock chips consistent with the mileage. The aluminum rims are still nice but do have some minimal curb rash which is typical for the mileage. One rim has a small amount of grease on it which can be removed with cleaner. All four tires are in excellent shape and have approximately 60% tread life remaining. The top is in excellent condition and was perfect until this past season. I accidentally cut the top with my ice scraper while clearing snow from the last storm. The tear was about 2 inches long. I had Ben’s Automotive Tops repair the tear with a large inside patch and some sealant on the outside. It is waterproof and the tear has been contained, however you can see the repair from the outside. It’s small and not that noticeable and in an inconspicuous area under the rear glass window (see pic.). No leaks from the soft top. Passenger door key lock inoperable. Passenger window works but gets hung up on occasion, might need an adjustment. The interior is nice, no cracks on the dash or panels. The seats are typical for their age, worn in all the typical places, a few small tears on the driver’s seat from wear over time. The car needs floor mats. Radio and trunk cd changer have a mind of their own and work periodically. The engine runs strong, burns about a quart of oil every 1,500 miles in the winter. In the summer it’s less. All and all, this is an excellent little car and with a little tlc from the new owner this car should provide years of service. Keep in mind that it is a used car, so don't expect it to be perfect. I have described everything to the best of my knowledge however I make no warranties on any part of the car. At this price you can't go wrong, what a great little summer ride. One further note, this car is all original and has never been in an accident and never had any paint work of any kind. My wife is very meticulous with record keeping and has all records of service and repair work dating back to when she bought the car in 2000. I am only listing the repairs made to the car dating back to 2008 as they are more relevant. Oil and lubrication service tickets every 3000 miles are not listed here but receipts are available for viewing in person. 2009 emissions passed. This car is for sale locally and must be picked up by the buyer. I will ship within the continental U.S. however all arrangements and costs are buyer’s responsibility. 4/29/10 Ben’s Auto Glass - repair small tear in soft top $45 4/16/10 Beste Automotive - replace ignition starter switch $257 2/23/10 Beste Automotive - replace clutch cable $307 1/20/10 Beste Automotive - replace constant velocity joints $459 10/19/10 Beste Automotive - replace tie rods ends, alignment $367 10/14/09 Desmonds Auto - replace shifter bushing in transmission, clean throttle body $467 7/29/09 Beste Automotive - replace ignition coil $312 5/5/09 Best Automotive - rear brake shoes $204 8/8/08 Beste Automotive - reline front brakes and replace rotors, 2 wheel alignment $549 1/7/08 Beste Automotive - replace left power window regulator $537 The original pictures are much higher resolution, eBay compresses them.
