Vehicle Detail
If you're looking for a super clean and reasonably priced 997S to use as your daily driver - a car you can enjoy and not worry about driving for fear of accumulating miles, this is the car for you. This isn't a garage queen or museum piece - it's an honest, used and well cared for machine with the remainder of the transferable Porsche CPO warranty in place. I have had most major subsystems in the car replaced and/or refreshed, including a new Porsche backed, Porsche installed engine (more on that below). * I've put together a 14 minute video going over the car in detail. It's a bit large, but decent quality so worth the download I believe. * If you would like to see a few more pictures or larger versions of those shown here, you can do so here : More pictures * If you would like to read more about Porsche's CPO warranty program, you can do so here : Porsche CPO Warranty FAQ If you're a detail nut, look no further - you will find everything you'd ever want to know about this car below This car has the following factory options : * PCM + navigation* Bose stereo* 6 speed manual* Power sunroof* 6 way power seats* PASM (as all Carrera S cars do)* 19" Carrea Sport wheels + Michelin Pilot PS2 There are some minor flaws with this car : None of these flaws are major and are all cosmetic - they are not issues most people would even notice unless pointed out. I pride myself on clear and honest representation of any car I sell, so I will point these flaws out here. * The front fascia has a bit of pitting from small rocks, commensurate with the mileage of the car. * There is a slight crease in the driver side lower sill (as pictured below) that has been touched up, but can only be seen from a kneeling position or lower and is purely cosmetic. * The headlights have a bit of wear from small rocks, bugs, etc - just blemishes which would likely polish out with a headlight restoration kit. * There is a chip in the hood, about the size of a grain of rice. * The drivers side rear wheel has what appears to be a small tool marking on the outer edge * It's a 2005 997 (if you've done your research, you know that this may be a liability...but there's a silver lining to this 2005...it has a brand new Porsche installed, warrantied engine) Now for the good stuff : * It has a brand new, Porsche installed, Porsche warrantied engine. The original engine was, of course, the factory installed 2005 motor. It suffered the intermediate shaft bearing failure that some 2005 engines have been known to fall victim to. Lucky for me, this happened 5 months after I purchased the car, under CPO warranty and Porsche graciously installed a brand new engine, covered under the remainder of the CPO warranty. The engine now has a touch over 3,000 miles on it (I have performed oil and filter chances every 1,000 miles thus far to have it analyzed and the engine has a clean bill of health - on the last oil change completed 300 miles ago, there was zero particulate or accumulation on the magnetic drain plug and the Blackstone Labs report gave it a thumbs up all around). So while the overall mileage of the car is 60,805, the engine has just over 3,000 miles and is like new. These are re-manfucatured engines, built to strict tolerances by hand at Porsche - in my discussions with folks in the know, this is about as close to a blueprinted factory engine as you're likely to get given the amount of scrutiny invested in the rebuild. It was replaced during the third week of August, 2009 and the PSE exhaust and X51 headers were installed at this time as well. The exact mileage on the car when the engine was replaced was 57,351 and the car now has 60,805 - the new engine has 3,454 total miles and has proven to be problem free, powerful and rock steady. Unlike many 997 motors, this one hasn't used a bit of oil during those first few thousand miles. * It has a brand new OEM clutch - I had this installed almost right away by my local Porsche dealer as the original clutch felt a bit soft to me. This new clutch has less than 7000 miles on it. * It has the Porsche Sports Exhaust (PSE) installed, which too was installed by Porsche when they installed the new engine. The best sounding exhaust for this car, in my opinion. * It has Porsche X51 headers installed, also installed at the time they installed the new engine. * It has brand new leather. The car originally had Cocoa leather but in the plush style - not my taste. I had Robert Budd of 928 Leather (now Classic 9) refinish all 4 seats in Cocoa, but in the sport style more fitting this car. Robert used OEM sourced Cocoa hides and the work is fantastic. I also had him cover the center console, fuse panel, handbrake and the trim piece below the PCM in new, matching Cocoa leather and the car is now quite plush inside. This was completed in early January and still smells oh so good. :) * It has brand new OEM brakes all around (OEM rotors, pads, pins, fluid). The new brakes have just 2000 miles on them. * I have installed the Porsche optional XPA steering wheel - thicker and plusher leather (amazingly, this is a night and day difference compared to the thin stock wheel) * The entry sill plates are all new (originals had a few small scratches). This includes the trim piece containing the hood latches as well as a new trim piece on the passenger side (umbrella slot) * I have installed the Tooki Bluetooth module (microphone can be seen in the interior pictures). This allows seamless phone integration with the PCM and works better than many OEM solutions I've experienced. * I have installed the Dension Gateway ipod connector - all you will need to do is pop your ipod in the front trunk cradle and you will have control over your music via the PCM. * The car has an Escort Passport SRX integrated system that had been installed by Brumos Porsche for the original owner before the car was even delivered to him. This is an older yet robust system, and is a "stealth install" with detector modules hidden in the front fascia and one on the rear plate mount (it looks like the plate bracket and blends in). It covers all major bands, has a hidden mute button (in the tray below the PCM stack), voice alerts and laser shifting. The control unit itself is installed in the glovebox where the CD holders would otherwise reside, and the only indicator that it is installed on the car is a single red LED in the instrument cluster. * The navigation maps and software have been upgraded to the latest and greatest. * The shifter knob is brand new (and is the OEM 997 Turbo design). * The car has the OEM Porsche factory short shifter (shorter throws) - feels fantastic and may be the best upgrade in day to day driving * The car has the mods4cars Remotekey (a comfort module allowing for auto up on the passenger window, horn honking when arming the alarm, autolocking/unlocking the doors, mirror tilt, etc) * All fluids are fresh (transmission, coolant, power steering, clutch./brake, oil/filter) * Sway bar bushings and links front and rear are all fresh, OEM replacement parts (the stock units didn't seem worn out, but this was cheap and fun to do) The car is 100% OEM stock and does not have a single aftermarket addition - intake, exhaust, flash, etc. It has never been in any accidents and looked to be pampered by the time I adopted her 4 years from new. A year later, it is mistaken for a new 997S and people don't believe that it has 60K miles on it (partly because not much of the car actually does anymore!) If someone wanted this car to be 100% perfect and indistinguishable from new, it would only need a few things in my opinion : new rear tires, a new gearbox, the front and rear bumpers repainted and maybe new PASM struts (the stock PASM bits are intact and not worn out). But if I wanted a perfect, like new car, these are the only things someone would have to replace to reach that goal. Please note, there isn't anything wrong with the gearbox or suspension - these are the only things you'd have to replace to have essentially a like new 2005 997S - they do not need replacing, I just point this out to illustrate how new everything else is. Tires are Michelin PS2 all around - the fronts have another 6~10K miles and look nearly new. The rear tires have probably have about 2,000 miles remaining. As it stands, I'm able to drive it and enjoy it each and every day, rain or shine so it's not important to me to replace those things. I do believe that this car has incredible value considering it has depreciated while benefiting from having such things as a new engine, new brakes, new leather, ipod and Bluetooth upgrades and so on. My investment in this car over the past year has been around $10,000, not including the nearly $15K+ Porsche covered for the new engine - of which I will recoup nothing. I believe that the CPO warranty and new engine increase this cars value, but only slightly when compared to other '05 C2S cars with this mileage. My asking price is what I feel to be fair market value for this car (not a cross section of other 2005 997S machines) at this time. I will not respond to emails asking "What's the lowest you will take?" or "What's your reserve?". My reserve is less than my Buy It Now price. That said, this car does have room to negotiate and I will do so if the offer is fair and made in a professional manner. It had one original owner before me, and I purchased this car from Brumos Porsche in Jacksonville, Florida in late May, 2009. The car had 52,000 miles on it at the time and was serviced per Porsche's recommendations on time according to the manual (which is actually stamped from those service dates, unlike many cars these days). This is the perfect car for someone looking to get their first Carrera, as it was for me last year. I have other financial obligations that I must attend to, otherwise I'd own and drive this car forever. It's proven to be a wonderful daily driver, comfortable, classy and fast. It will average almost 19mpg around town if you baby it, or scream to 140 in the blink of an eye. This car feels every bit as fast as my '02 Viper GTS did in the same stretches of road (same peak speeds) but infinitely more comfortable and stable. This will be a great, reliable Porsche for someone for years to come. I own the car outright and have the title in hand. All original manuals and booklets are included and look to have never been touched they are so clean and new. The CPO warranty will be transferred to you as the new owner and expires in May of 2011 or at 100,000 miles giving you another year and 40,000 miles (it can be extended as well by your Porsche dealer I believe should you wish to do this). The Porsche CPO warranty is pretty good when compared to other manufacturers - they replaced the engine with no hassles, no questions asked and the warranty covers EVERYTHING - not just powertrain. In this day and age, I have to admit to being very moved by their generosity when receiving calls with updates after the first engine failed - Boardwalk Porsche here took amazing care of me and I believe it reflects on Porsche in general and how their dealer network operates. Please don't hesitate to email me with any questions you may have - if you make and offer and is refused, it is likely because the "auto-reject offer" feature has kicked in. Don't be offended by this - I don't see rejected offers on my end. I will be fair on the asking price for this car given the miles and history, but I won't be giving it away either. If your offer is rejected, try again - you're just a bit low is all. :) Thanks for looking! On May-08-10 at 09:10:15 PDT, seller added the following information:I've had a few questions about the gearbox and figured I'd better be clear here : please note, there isn't anything wrong with the gearbox or suspension - I was just saying that those are the two things someone could replace to have essentially a like new 2005 997S - they do not need replacing, I just point this out to illustrate how new everything else is. But there is absolutely nothing wrong at all with the gearbox or suspension - apologies for the poor phrasing! On May-12-10 at 16:25:40 PDT, seller added the following information:Folks, I thought I was clear in my ad but I'll repeat here : please DO NOT email me with lower offers than I'm asking for the car at this point in time. My reserve is less than my buy it now price and this gap reflects the negotiable price I'm willing to consider. DO NOT contact me to complete the sale outside of ebay for cash, either. These requests will be politely ignored and subsequent requests will only result in your bids being canceled or blocked!
