My 1997 840ci coupe is for sale - I just took delivery of a new 650i convertible so this one has to go. PLEASE NOTE - THIS IS A BMW 840CI -NOT 850. The car's previous owner put an 850 badge on the trunk - I have NO idea why!! It is the very economical 4.4 V* - not the gas guzzling V12 850!! I have had BMWs for many years and searched a long time before buying this car - pictures do NOT do it justice!! 1997 was the last year of production for this car and it has the better 4.4 V* with the steptronic box - like the current cars have....the earlier 4.0 liter engine was nowhere near as reliable and smooth..I had one in my first 840 and I was glad to sell it! To look at this vehicle you would never believe it had 125k miles on it. these engines are good for double that or more. The leather is all intact with obvious small areas of wear on the drivers' seat. The rear seat has hardly been sat in. If you are looking at this ad then you know what the car has by way of features - sliding sunroof, heated seats etc. Heat and A/C( icy cold) all work efficiently. I had some problems with my camera so I have included some of the pics I that were taken last summer..I have hardly driven it since then ! I have had the car for over two years. I am not a mechanic and I have had all work done by a BMW garage or German auto engineers. It has always had synthetic oil while in my care. The following work has done during the past two years - New ignition lock and key New MID display ( the led center display which ALWAYS loses soem pixels in BMWs!!!) This is perfect! new water pumps - both new radiator and header tank new master brake cylinder new batteries 4 new Breyern mesh ( BMW style) cross spoke alloys and tires - Tires have done about 4000 miles only. New rear mufflers both sides. I have spent the money - you can enjoy the car! This car drives smooth, transmission changes smoothly as it should - gets average of 20mpg ( more if you baby her!!). I would like to keep the car but simply do not have the room. I have had many BMWs ( this is the 3rd 840 I have owned) , and this color combination with the two tone grey interior is my favorite. The paintwork is really bright and the car always draws comment - few people know this model. there are a few very minor marks on the front as you would expect but from 6 feet you cannot see them. I have replaced all the items that usually need attention so you should be in good shape. I have not had any engine work done on this car ( come to that I 've NEVER had engine work done on any of my Bimmers...they' ve never needed any!)
